I have room in my fridge if anyone is looking to dispose of those terrible 12/20 PS cans. Please and thank you.

Totally agree ... I'm not feeling the hatred for the 12/20 cans

Do you work in the Loop? I'd be happy to throw one your way. I don't want people to think I'm somehow exaggerating how bad my particular cans are; I've had PS multiple times, and at LEAST the specific cans I have (from the Field) bear very little resemblance to what I've had in the past.

@ratwheels, did you pop your can? If so, what did you think?

I do work in the loop but have several cans at home. Thank you for the offer though. This batch of PS wasn't mind blowing but I've enjoyed the cans I've drank so far. 5-6 weeks isn't what I typically look for when shopping for APAs/IPAs especially given all the amazing hoppy beers from Pipeworks, Half Acre and others readily available on the shelf anytime I want them and all usually within 1-3 weeks of canning. But, I hadn't had PS in a really long time and I've spent $10 on worse things.

I tried to make it clear that I didn't think the batch was necessarily bad; the cans I had are from the Field Museum, so it's possible that however they got there, they were badly transported. It's not a "bad" batch, I don't think; I think the hops have completely fallen off in mine. The reason I say this is that the rest of the beer tastes good, but there's very little (fresh) hop presence in the cans that I've had.

Either way, supposedly Capone's got cans from the middle of January, so I'd imagine those are slightly better.

Not a new topic, but have had Sue many times from all packing that it's been available in and I just can't buy cans in Chicagoland. Had Decorah Sue on draft in IA last month and it was unbelievable how much better than the cans I bought while in WI in July that were only 2 weeks old. ...and btw, Sue DDH w/citra was on another level, and of course brewed in Decorah!

I think most people are in agreement that the Decorah stuff is superior to the cans (the draft/bottled PS seems super hazy, so I'd assume the mouthfeel is slightly beer, just like KS is). I still think canned PS is a great beer, and better than a lot of citra-hopped stuff in Chicago, but I do agree that we'll all be even happier once everything switches over to Decorah-made.

Yep, obviously still very drinkable and better than a lot out there. Kinda like the Alpine situation...Fresher Duet and Nelson is not bad at all, but no where near the product that was pre Green Flash. I bought it once after it was distributed to IL and not even close to draft or bottle from the old brew pub. Just a shame the masses can't enjoy such superior beers on the regular.

Same with Beer Temple, and maybe The Beer Cellar (although they didn't release a date on their initial tweet)

I drank it this past weekend. It wasn't as good as many of the other batches of cans I've had, but it wasn't awful. If that's how it always tasted, I would probably pick it up once in awhile but not as often as I had planned.

Hey, I work in the Loop too, we should grab a post-work beer (or at the very least lunch) together someday.

Holy crap, man. So there's three different canning dates out there right now?

    TOO MUCH TO DEAL WITH

Cool, glad it wasn't awful, but also glad I'm not entirely crazy on this. Hopefully the January cans are better.
