BOOM! New Belgium Brewing is pleased to announce that it will open the state of Michigan for distribution in late August, 2012. This will bring New Belgium’s distribution footprint to 29 states and the District of Columbia. The Fort Collins maker of Fat Tire has inked deals with 22 Michigan distributors to carry its beer. “We’re incredibly excited to start shipping beer to Michigan,” said New Belgium spokesman, Bryan Simpson. “It’s a craft savvy state with a strong tradition of producing creative and innovative beers. We look forward to joining that community and helping to grow the fan base for craft beer.” New Belgium will roll out 22-oz bottles initially with draft and 12-oz to follow. Collaborative plans with Michigan brewers are in development.
I am happy they are coming, pissed they decided to sign with Westside. Every time I have meet their reps and owners, they are the pinnacle of bros.
Seriously? I've worked with Westside GR for many years and always found them to be among the best of the best.
Awesome news. Hopefully with the announcement of bombers first, it means some Lips Of Faith will be rolling in. I will be all over those.
Just curious, what do you do for a living? I used to work in the industry, at the "other" distributor in town.
I remember hearing rumblings about New Belgium looking for distributors last year. I'm glad it's coming to fruition, definitely excited that they're doing a roll-out with bombers. I was worried they'd start out with Fat Tire and go from there.
I don't know any of the West Side reps in Kzoo yet. They acquired KBD just after I ceased regularly working in that area. The upper mgmt, as well as their craft portfolio mgr, based out of GR, are good people who will do right by the brand.
