I assume it's probably difficult, yeah, but I would also imagine it might even out a little, if they cut down on the amount of random variants with weird adjuncts. The whole BA DL process cannot be a very efficient (or inexpensive) one.

And yes, if I'm Group A this year and don't get vanilla again because they haven't figured out how to fix their entry lines, I'm going to go fucking Super Saiyan 3 (should be high enough).

LMFAO! I wasn't even in Group A and I'm with you man.

And again, for those that aren't looking for trade bait, I think the best way to go about this is to guarantee everyone a pour of some, if not all, of the variants.

It's nice you are essentially guaranteed plenty of regular DL on draft, but with so much hype over certain variants, and so many attendees having missed out on tasting them, this would be a great improvement.

Yeah, it doesn't seem that hard to have a few volunteers check that you have a group A ticket at the north line. Although it helped me because I got FVM in group B. Sorry (not really, that was great stuff)!

The one drawback is the south entrance was a little trickier to get to from the droppoff spot. North was right there, it seemed like I had to cut through fields and around buildings to go south. Or maybe it was just because I was still groggy/already a little buzzed.

I like the idea of randomizing the variants, that would thin out the tradebaiters and balance the playing field between the 5 groups.

If not, make it a loose rule that the previous year's most popular variants go on tap TOWARDS THE END of the fest. Group D may get the last of the variant leftovers but a better shot at trying VBDL on tap.

That's some revisionist history if I have ever heard it. Weather was no worse than previous years and they were obligated to stay through 5 groups so not sure how they would have gotten to leave early without staying to the end of the group time they are obligated to stay to on the tickets....

The reason the line minders did what they did is debatable, but there's nothing revisionist about last year's whether being a dumpster fire. It was between 30-40F degrees, and never stopped raining, at all. The previous year, it was still cold, but at least the rain stopped midday. I hadn't attended prior to 2015, but plenty of people have stated most previous years were either drier or warmer.

There was a guy wearing shorts and flip flops at DLD last year. It wasn't the worst....

Well, that guy was an idiot in all likelihood. The weather was pretty bad. I would take 2015 over 2016 any day.

Yeah we would've been 100x better off if it were cold enough to be snowing last year. The rain was relentless

Weather last year was worse than the year before, in my opinion.

Then again, I stood in line in the drizzling rain for 2.5 hours straight last year, so I might have a slightly skewed perspective overall.

Are you dissatisfied with the level of shitfest it already is and want to create a bigger one?

The existence of a single dumbass amidst a blue-lipped, shivering, soggy bag of bones crowd does not determine the severity of weather suckage.

Last year was run extremely well assuming you weren't a group A'er whose only goal was to get VBDL. It could be run even better if they cleared out the people in the fest so there were less people...

The only thing that would accomplish is creating a complete and utter cluster outside the 2 gates to get into the festival starting at about, oh, now, so that people could be the first ones to get their bottles.

But on the bright side, the people with GA will be treated to all of the open space and guest pours that they want when they're the only ones left at noon.

FFF wants to make money off the event. Encouraging people to spend a majority of time in line to leave is absolutely awful business and why this suggestion will never ever happen.

They got rid of GA tickets last year and the crowds are already lined up way early in advance to opening, have you seen the crowd gates FFF uses that rival the roller coaster ones at Great America (speaking of which they should tagline the slogan Make Great America Great Again)?

Except that they stand to make way more money by reducing the overhead of the thousand people who would leave right away to get VBDL bottles....the vouchers are prepaid so for every ticket not redeemed, FFF has to give out less beer or food...the only people losing money would be the Coffee and merch vendors (stuff is all available via mail order the next day if it doesn't sell out) and the ticket holders who don't use their prepaid vouchers....oh yeah, and if FFF cared about making money off this they would ban bottle shares since that doesn't make money...

I'm pretty sure all this talk of things not being set up right and bad weather just infuriates the Dark Lord and will make him unleash acid rain on us this year.

Man would people hate them if they made you purchase vouchers that they knew you wouldn't use. I just don't think they would ever do that. It's still a festival. I doubt they want to turn into a bottle pick up and leave, or get least liked bottle and stay here and drink. I don't see a reason for them to make such a drastic change when the fest has continued to grow in popularity.

This is almost comical. The past few years they've literally made direct decisions to make more money such as GA tickets, prepaid vouchers, guaranteed allotments and now moving the date back but tell me more about how eliminating anywhere from 2,3 or maybe even 4,000 people from an event actually makes money. I understand they won't give out as much beer but you are assuming they'll sell off all the leftover beer including guest taps and just as much merchandise online compared to in person. FCFS would be solely for the benefit of the flippers and traders and encourage even more shady behavior outside of the event once people have left.
