Problem is you have groups of people in different groups, and forcing them to separate is basically saying. Sorry all those beers you brought to bottle share with your friends? Gotta wait 2 hours until you find each other inside to crack them. Or "sorry bro, I cracked that bottle in the north line" etc..

They just need to have more workers working faster and getting people in.

I doubt they'll have enough workers working faster to get people in (although it seems like a huge bottleneck currently, for whatever reason). However, I'd be fine with that option, as long as the end result is not a repeat of last year.

Personally I'm of the mind where you then send everyone in a mixed group to the group B-E line (South in last year's case). If you can't ensure that everyone from Group A gets into the Group A bottle sales line before Group B starts, anyone who wants to hang out in a mixed group makes that the priority (not getting into the Group A DL line). I sympathize, but it's not fair to the other Group A people if FFF can't figure out how to properly get the line through.

To be clear--I don't care who is in what line, I only care that everyone who attempts to get into line for their group's bottle sales time is actually allowed to do so.

    Uhh. What?

It was like 48 and pouring rain the entire day. Not a ray of sunshine. 12mph winds.

    It was f'ing miserable.

There's a lot of solutions to the "problem" of not being able to share with your friends, all of which are better options than cluttering a line that has a very express and specific purpose.

^This. I'm not sure where the impression that North Gate = Group A only came from.

It'd be nice if, at the start of the cattle gates, they separated you into Group A and everyone else. Fast Pass style. If I remember, they didn't start funneling people into the gates until 30 minutes before open or so.

Third gate, or expand the number of scanners/bag checkers at the existing gate.

    1. Who said anything about cutting? edit: I totally read cluttering as cutting. Whoops.

    2. There is no "rule" against B-E groups entering through the north gate, just as there is no rule against group A entering through the south gate. It is only a suggestion they give to try to speed things up. Never has anyone been denied entry. And never has their "suggestion" actually sped anything up.

The workers (volunteers?) towards the North Gate (not at the gate, the ones walking back and forth) where specifically telling people that it was for Group A. They just didn't tell everyone, and/or not everyone was convinced that it was in their best interests to go south. Part of the reason I stayed in the north line was because I heard 'em say it.
Either of these would be acceptable to me, and I'm hoping that they're doing something similar (since they acknowledged the issue last year).

I am well aware that there is no rule preventing B-E from standing in A.

However, a good number of the pages of this thread, and the end of last year's thread, have been dedicated to wishing there would be a rule.

This would ensure group A actually gets into the bottle line before the B and C time slots, something they failed to accomplish last year.

What time did you arrive last year? Why didn't you get vanilla?

In the interest of fairness and accuracy, there were workers (not sure if volunteers, FFF employees, etc) telling Group B people like myself that we had to be in the line that you are describing as Group A only. It was my first DLD and I was told it was my only option. So confusion is a huge factor besides policing intentions

    Haaaaa!

I got in the north gate line at..I dunno, 9 or 915. It took around 2 hours to get into the fest (because a LOT of non-Group A people got in line at the north gate, so everyone who went through the south gate got through much quicker), and then we had to hop in line at bottle sales. By the time we got to the front of the line, vanilla was all gone because a bunch of the B people got in to bottle sales before some of the group A people at the north gate. I'm mostly salty because I've never even tasted vanilla, and I figured that was my shot! Hopefully I'll get lucky this year (and they'll have things slightly more stream-lined this year).

Anyway, I'm sure people are sick of me bringing this up, so, sorry!

If Vanilla you mean Handjee, it was not there for Group B. I was like the 3rd person in line for Group B. Saw like 10 Group A folks hurry ahead of us before our time started. I was able to get a Vanilla French Militia but Handjee was long gone.

I'm not HOPING for a thunderstorm but that would be pretty epic for their set, even though they'd probably have to postpone things for lightning.

And I think drinking horns might be in order for this year...

Weird, I could've sworn other B people (in last year's thread) said they got Handjee.

With that being said, I was trying to get either of those two (and in theory my gf would've gotten the other).

I was in group A, took the 8:30AM open bottle shuttle so probably got in line around 9:15AM. By the time I had made my way into the event it was around like 11:30AM and Group B already had a massive line, I got lucky and saw someone holding an A sign way off to the right of he entrance and he let me and my guest go through and grab out stuff really quickly. I saw a TON of group A people in line with the group B people, so I think a lot of people got screwed.
