You guys. First of all.....those 12/20 cans.....I'm guessing were sent to The Field Museum well in advance of the event. And who knows where The Field Museum thought to store that beer. Could have been under a heating vent for all we know.

Secondly....the 1/5 batch tastes fine. And are we really complaining about 3 week old beers? I understand local breweries get cans in stores within day(s) but....this is a little much.

For what it's worth, I don't think anyone is complaining about the post-12/20 stuff.

Perhaps not, but I've see multiple posts about people saying they are passing on the 1/5 batch due to age ... To each their own.

That's a good point, but I if you're able to grab 1/18 cans vs. 1/5, why wouldn't you? I wouldn't skip the 1/5 if it was all that were here, but I'll certainly pass if I know I can get something 2 weeks fresher.

(which is moot since I'm not grabbing either January batch :grinning:)

For anyone in Old Town, the 1/18 batch is at Plum Market.

Beer Cellar and The Open Bottle both posted that they received more cases of the 1/18 batch - if anybody is looking for some.

Picked up a 4-pack at Trader Joe's, somehow wound up with three 1/5 and one 1/18. I'm guessing that someone just consolidated loose singles, but it'll be interesting to see if there's any perceptible difference.

It is nice to not have to yomp up to the IL - WI border and fork out for several months old Pseudo Sue through buying it bundled with 6 month old Golden Nugget. The discussion between 2 weeks of age on these cans in CHI is quite a change of pace.

Big stack of 1/5 cans at Champaign Binny's. Drank one tonight. Good PS, but not quite as good as the week old I had this summer from IA. Could've been a freshness thing I suppose. Glad to have another option next to Navaja and Lil Citra. It's nice to have new things.

Not a big fan of Columbus hops, but I'll definitely say that if you are, this one is a win. Not sure what TG does to their beers, but the mouthfeel on this one is about as perfect as I've had in an IPA; not too heavy and not too light.

Also, props for the badass label!

Yeh their pale ales are excellent - that 1492 is possibly my least favorite and it's still very good

Apologies in advance if this was already mentioned but I just stopped into my local Trader Joe's and they had PS with 1/18 canning date. If you live close to a Traders and still looking for PS give them a call, they may have it. Just another option....

Seen a lot of Sue around. Fairly fresh too (1/18). Got a 4pk at the Tradet Joes I work at and loved it. Basically sumed it as a pre-summer Vallejio. Def not mind to see this year round and its elbowed itself as one of my top pale picks.

If you're trying to figure out whether that was purchased in IL, it wasn't. I was in Wisconsin for the weekend and grabbed a bomber.

This is like that ridiculous Pappy & Co. brand that the Pappy family started.

Finally you can own a Pappy Van Winkle coaster to set your budget bourbon on. Can't leave work early enough to buy a bottle of Pappy? You'll love this Pappy Van Winkle 23 year t-shirt! Trying to decide whether or not to feed your family or buy a bottle of 20 year old Pappy on Craigslist? Buy this 500 dollar chair made from barrel staves instead! It's just like the smooth taste of Pappy but you'll still be able to afford oatmeal and ramen!
