Clearly "Extreme Beer" is no joke to Carton: ABV variation, style exposure, palate comprehension...Diverse Portfolio: Flanders, IPA, Fruit/Blunt, Cream, Stout, Session

The swishers are usually around that time of year. My birthday is in April and the Grape came out prior and was fantastic last year.

Six beer lineup. Nice! Although I'm not sure how Boat fits into the extreme beer category.

I know that initially people said the Soo-Pah-Eee-Go-Eee-Pah was a little too sweet due to the 13% abc and preferred the Id-Eee-Pah more, but it has mellowed a bit in the cans since the release week (about one month ago)

Boat is the foundation of Carton' s creativity: Extreme Session. When you put it into perspective, when you factor in the terminology of a session, boat pushes the boundaries of a grassy/juicy/ CRISP refreshment

...if I were Augie then boat would be my blanket: something one brings along with them where ever they go.

I've bought and enjoyed a boatload of Boat, so I like it as much as anyone, but let's not get carried away here.

    I’m fine with carried away

Kolsch yeast, and a surplus of hops – there is a flavor profile here that’s unique to a session.

Was gonna say, as far as self-proclaimed session beers go, the flavor and aromatics of Boat definitely stick out to me. For that reason, I'd consider Boat to be pretty extreme--it does some crazy things at 4.2% without coming across as watery. IIRC, Augie has described Boat as a "session double IPA" on the podcast.

Ok ok, apparently I'm wrong again. Fine, Boat is an EXTREME session strength ale with pleasant and in no way over the top flavors. It completely fits the bill. You guys win.

How about we mediate this to Carton took “Extreme Beer” literally with the majority of offerings at EBF? Perhaps Deli taste like an old sandwich pulled from the garbage…EXTREME

My attempt to stray away from the Boat debate, by settling on a middle ground: Carton brought Extreme Beer to the Extreme Beer Fest, whereas some others stick to their “staples”

Boat is here because I am here and it is what I drink. That's really all there is to it.

Now that's what I thought. Perfectly reasonable.

In Carton news I had to post that I'm drinking an Unjunct right now and it is possibly the best Carton beer overall and definitely the best dark beer they've done. To think this beer in non-barrel aged and free of adjuncts. It's so thick, velvety and chocolate-y. I heard they're going to make a lot of this at Two Roads. I hope so.
