Still crowlers available as of 2pm. I did hear the bartender tell someone she expects the crowlers to sell out by the end of the day, but that there is still a lot left for growler fills.

I will concede, it is very annoying having to own so many different growlers. At this point I'm trying to give away as many as I can and consolidate because they take up too much space. I can still rationalize owning a Ram one because I go there and fill them up often enough, but if I could have it my way I'd prefer to only own one growler and one howler (both would be flip-top cap).

I would have pointed out Shaun's post on instagram.

The server didn't know they were going to fill growlers after all the morning fog cans sell out.

Good thing I brought both a non-Ram and a Ram growler today.

The ILBG isn't going to touch this one. For one, it's essentially regulating brewery operations (ILBG isn't an oversight committee), and second, they'd never be able to enforce it.

It's the prerogative of a brewery to make that call on their own. If you/me/we/whatever don't like the policy, don't buy the beer. That's the only way they're going to change.

Don't some municipalities also have strict requirements for the types of growlers breweries can fill?

There is nothing forcing any brewer to join the ILBG, it is strictly voluntary, and they do so for the benefits. You can't be essentially regulating something when your members volunteer to accept the rules and join it. Sure they could enforce it- "Hey, we noticed you were doing this and you agreed not to do that. Can you please change your ways for the betterment of Illinois beer? If not, we can't renew your membership and you'll lose out on all the great things we do for our brewers." Doesn't seem to tough to do.

    Hey guys,

my appologies for not clarifying the non RAM growler thing. I did read my comment and it's a little fuzzy. We do want to run through our own growlers first. To further clarify, we were told by a certain authoritive group that we were not allowed to use non RAM growlers, as it violates health code. We are legally responsible, which is why we swap out our clean growlers (we clean them weekly and cannot be done on the spot) for your "dirty" growler, even if it's not actually dirty. We recieve some pretty nasty growlers back, we don't want to put our beer in there not just for quality reasons, but for health reasons. Rules can be bent if necessary, but only under certain conditions.

Also we should have NE Slapper on for a bit for growler and pint fills. We are about 3/4 of the way through our crowlers.

Thanks for all the support everyone! Cheers!

Quick question.....is Ram not set up to fill Crowlers on demand? Like isn't that the point of them? Why can't they just fill more Crowlers?

That's what I thought when I showed up today. However, they were pre-filled and brought out from the back when somebody ordered their allotment. I can't specifically say if they were filling them today or not, that's an observation on my part.

Unless they just bought one, they have been borrowing the crowler machine from the Wheeling location. I think they pre-canned all the ones they have on-site as I only saw people filling growlers when I stopped in and there was no canning going on.

They don't have a crowler machine. Wheeling does. Sometimes Wheeling shares.

Crowlers available as of 5. I have no idea how many are left

Can someone buy StB a Crowler machin please? RAM?

Arguably best new beers in the Chicagoland area and no Crowler machin ?!?!

Still a few crowlers left at around 6PM here. Great mouthfeel on this NE Slapper with a juicy taste.
