Yeah, they put SB batch 2 on draft on Monday. 2 weeks ago Jacob goes to Juice Town was amazing, best NE IPA I've had in the city, hit all the things you want. My hop disliking GF tried mine and ordered one because it was a tasty fruit bomb. 2 weeks later those beautiful, bold fruit flavors weren't prominent. So just to be clear, loved it 2 weeks ago, don't know what happened on the 2nd go round.

I'd put "hops on hops" right next to NE slapper.

Shaun's haze game is at the top of the list coming out of IL. Incredible brews

I can't argue with the weed-bomb comment. But I enjoyed it. It also had the thickest mouthfeel of the three, IMO.

Yeah Slapper is my 2nd favorite and that is saying something given that he keeps hitting home runs ( Juicy-Slapper-Hops on Hops-Hop Slush-Morning Fog is how I rank them)

Coming in from Boston this week. Where do I find the IL version of the NE IPA milkshake? I will only be in Chicago proper though. Thanks!

We have same rankings with the exception of Hop Slush and Morning Fog (which I would reverse).... And with that being said, I really liked all of them.

This NE Slapper has the best mouthfeel of the five in my opinion, and that's despite it being an IPA and some of the others being DIPA. Shaun at Ram has it figured out for that NE style, that's for sure!

    Here's what you do:

Bring me over some fresh TH/Trillium cans, and I'll give you my super fresh crowlers of NE Slapper that just got released. You'll also get a great handshake and a crisp high five out of it

This is a little like coming to Chicago from Rome and ordering the pasta...How about trying our specialties?

That's fair enough, though it sounded as though there was some decent stuff based on the reviews above. I would definitely bring some Trillium with me, but given the weather in BOS on the outbound, I can't check a bag.

OK, so where should I go? Are there any good BA releases this week? Not planning on taking any back with me, so tap rooms are probably where I'll end up. Would also love to try some TG while I am there, just to give it a whirl.

Bad news, but I believe the new travel ban policy language states that at best you can be detained as a foreign conspirator and at worst tried for crimes against America if you don't have at least 12 cans of Tree House on you when traveling. I would strongly suggest you press the airline to take your checked bag and try and bring as many cans as possible to avoid any issues...however, if you need a forwarding address in Illinois to ship them to we would be happy to provide a few...

Depends when you're getting here. BA Darkness is on tap at Links Taproom. Hopleaf has a bunch of BA beers leftover from their Super Bowl stout event. This is off topic for this thread, though.

Forbidden Root has a couple of mediocre NE-style IPAs on draft right now. RAM in Schaumburg and Noon Whistle in Lombard will probably have the best options tomorrow through the weekend.

Thank you! Given that an offer of a sexual violation was somehow on topic (see above #2207), I suspect your mention of BA Darkness is within the friendly scope of BA!

It doesn't exist. It's definitely not the style I would seek out if I was visiting, though we have some solid ones.

Goose Island Taproom has had a pretty sweet taplist the least few weeks, and has pretty much had a keg of Bourbon County or a variant on at all times since Black Friday. There's only been a few weeks it's been missing.

I've had the Rare, but not the Coffee. Would actually like to try a non-infected '15, since all mine were toast. Will definitely have to check that out!

Listen to this man. Based on how Noon Whistle's last NE Style IPA (Funny Gummy) is, these are probably the best two options in the area right now. If you're able to make it out to Lombard or Schaumburg, look into visiting these two spots.

    ....WTF

Speaking as someone who was desperately trying to have Rare for about a year, it's totally ridiculous to me that people have had an easier job drinking Rare than they have Coffee.

And that Rare from 2015 is still available on shelves...has it become a shelf turd or can we defense it as a premium product?

Its the pricing. Rare, due to the price, (and expanded availability - conspiracy theories abound) sat on shelves whereas coffee sold out pretty much day of, or thereabouts. I found rare multiple times sitting on shelves at prices ranging from $75 to $100+. Coffee, I came across once.

I'm fine with it being a product a la Eclipse's BA stouts, but I'm still salty it took me a year to find.

    Fuckers.
