I also heard either this week or next, so I would just check on the day that your Binny's gets their normal delivery.

Basically...just go to Binny's every single day, and ask every single day. :grinning:

Dude, Binny's opens at 9. Are you saying you're not there at 9 every morning, on the off chance that they'll have something you want?

    WTF.

Just got a bottle of BA Darkness from Willowbrook Binny's. They had it behind the service desk.

Not buying a beer because of how long it was in a barrel is silly. Good barrel aging programs (not saying Surly's is or isn't good) let the beer tell you when it's ready. All barrels are different. All aging conditions are different. All blends are different. It's art as much science. More so than any other aspect of brewing.

Edit: FRIEND just returned from getting one for me at Binny's, decided to keep it. Looks like I'm on the hunt after work.

While I agree on principle, aging a beer for 3 months is never going to impart the level of barrel character you'd get from a longer-aged beer. So if you're looking to purchase the beer on a "holy shit, imagine how good this beer will be with some strong bourbon barrel characteristics!" perspective, it makes sense to hold off. If you're purchasing just to see how it tastes, that's different.

Example: I liked Xocoveza but it was a little spicier than I'd like. I wanted a barrel-aged version because it would cut down on the heat, and add some creaminess. The fact that it only spent a few months in barrels was okay in that sense.

For this one, I want to see what Darkness turns into when it's aged for a comparable period of time to the other BA stouts I typically drink (I'd saying 8-12 months, 6 months on the outside). A 3 month version is not what I'm looking for there, because I'm trying to compare BA Darkness to other comparably aged stouts (and I don't drink a lot of 3 month-aged BA stouts). No issues with Surly going this route, but I don't blame people for holding off based on that number.

    Ouch man, dick move!
