What beer are you drinking now? #1574

Good morning and Happy Friday BA's! I've got nothing. Two more days of work after today . I wanna go home. It's time for the Glass of the Day Awards!

GotD: For finally displaying his Day of the Dark grand prize, cheers and congrats to @CanConPhilly for this GoT chalice .
2nd: Back in action, and with a glass stein no less (oxymoron? ), @cavedave 's return these last two weeks has definitely bee noticed...and now rewarded .
3rd: And let's all welcome to the podium for the first time, @Sturgeon83 for this vintage Pabst thumbprint chalice .

I found this in the beer fridge and decided it was time to go! A couple of days short of ten months old, it's pretty damn good and very easy drinking for a 9% beer. More chocolate taste than coffee which is fine by me. Going to do a little housecleaning this morning while I enjoy my beer. Happy Friday gang!

 

Dog walked, oil changed, workout done, sipping on an Allagash Dubbel, before I head to the new grocery store in my neighborhood that has an on premises license, so you can have a pint of craft beer while you shop....this could be the greatest thing that ever happened to me!!!!!

Stopped by Shades Of Pale brewing in SLC for their release of their first stab at a New England/Northeast style DIPA called Double Trouble. I had never been to this brewery before but I have had some of their smaller beers purchased from the grocery store and they were average to okay at best. Interesting enough the release date was yesterday but the appropriate labels did not show up in time so it is bottled in a generic bottle. Not that that matters I guess except it mislabeled?!. It checks in at 10% and has medium bitterness. It has been hit with a ton of hops. If I were to guess I'd say Citra, Cascade and Mosaic. It's a decent brew. Not many turbid/hazy IPAs show up around these parts so it was nice to see a brewery attempt it. They really nailed the color/look tho (no filter)

Something simple with lunch . . .



The more things change the more they stay the same. Yuengling has tweaked their basic lager recipe over the years but kept the same profile which is an above average brew for the common man. Works for me.

Clear amber tone with mild/medium malt aroma. Little hop presence (had to search for them) but a malty richness absent from other AAL brands. Oh it's not first list, nor does it pretend to be, but a BMW won't get you to the grocery store any better than a Chevy.

Taste good, widely available, bargain price, what else can I say. Around here we don't bother with less than a 12 pack.
