i have my alcohol hoard in the basement, but in plastic storage totes.
They are split up by dark (imp stouts, booze barrel aged, etc) and light (sours, funked saisons, etc).
The light side smells like a burst of a tart sweet fruit menagerie when I open the top.
It has quite a few beers with cork tops, perhaps that's the source?
Wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences. Haven't come across it before.

I have a couple of cabinets full in the basement with tighter fitting doors. Very interesting, distinctly beer smell inside. Don't get the same smell from the open air shelves down there.
