Chicago Stout Releases (2018)

What's the word on Hailstom's **** Stache? Chocolate Raspberry Stout when done well sounds pretty good.

 

Had it on draft last Friday....it's an OVERLOAD of raspberries. I rather enjoyed it. The only stout I can compare it to is Westbrook 5th anniversary. 5th was a nice chocolate raspberry balance and **** Stache is a punch in the mouth of raspberry.

Also, kids...if you don't like the price of a beer you should begin an online campaign against the brewery, accusing them of profiteering and endlessly trolling the brewer/proprietor.

So, uh... about that Madagascar

 

I'd insert the gif of Michael Jackson eating popcorn from the Thriller video, but I've received enough warnings over posting multimedia.

 

I'm not kidding, I thought the same thing yesterday. There are definitely times when I'm saddened by the site's stance on gifs/memes/etc.

 

I was talking with my guy at the Elmwood Park Binny's for quite a bit last night, and he was saying that if any Binny's get Madagascar, he only expects the flagship Chicago locations to get it. According to him, the smaller stores (Beer Temple/Liquor Park/Capones/etc) will get a small shipment, but most of the Binny's locations won't even see any distro.

He is expecting the new coffee stout from Hop Butcher in very soon though!

 

From what I heard 4 Hands oversold at the release and dipped into to distributor stock. Hence some of the delay and scarcity. 4 Hands had to reallocate what distributors were getting because they were short.

Still hoping to get one, but I'm not holding my breath. I had really enjoyed this on tap last year.

 

Already setting up tent outside of LP Binnys. Not sure if I'm going to seek it out too much. I've enjoyed it, but wouldn't invest that much time.

The hop butcher stout was pretty solid on draft, felt like it got a lot better as it warmed, but it was pretty heavy on the heat.

 

Had a beer manager at a suburban Binnys approach me yesterday and say they'll be getting it this week. So we'll see.

 

Was just at the Open Bottle. They were told thir allotment broke on the truck today.

 

Why couldn't it have just happened to something else?!?! Take the modelo but leave me my Madagascar (well... someone's Madagascar)

 

"Gee boss, I uh, broke a case of the rare beers. I'll pay for them, what did we pay the brewery for them? $4 a bottle? Yeah, I cleaned out the truck, threw away the box and glass and mopped up so their won't be any evidence of this...other than the 12 Madagascar's I put up on Craigslist..."

Yeah I think it's a combo of strong hoppy offerings being made here/receiving new distortion along with unseasonably warm weather for the last 6 weeks. We haven't had those bone chilling cold, "only a BA Stout will do" kind of nights since December
