    I agree that makes it more fun for everybody. NBS posting, posting on "share day", taking part in hints and hauls thread is the best part of this BIF.

    Would be hard to "vet" participants before we get to the hints and share day. Maybe just limit repeat participants if they fail to take part in the "fun"

    When we started that was the requirement as I recall. At some point it got away from it (not blaming anyone nor do I care that much either way). If you are looking for input though, I tend to lean your way on the topic. That being said, I don't think I would not grant entry to any former participants (however, encourage them to share on NBS going forward), but for any new ones that is probably fine.

    I agree for this time that any former participants should be let it. But it should be know that beers from the boxes need to be posted on the share day. We also need to make sure that pictures are posted in the BIF thread of the packages as they are received. To me these are all part of participation. If you can't meet the requirements without a good reason then your not allowed back.

    Not sure if it has been posted recently but I'm sure it was posted when the first round of this BIF began as it is pretty standard practice in all the BIF's I've been in to post pictures and such. And with NBS there has always been a share Sunday announced before the start of the BIF that follows the date to ship by so that everyone has beer to share on that Sunday

    Had one of those targets, kind of a bummer not seeing any posts from them. Don't mean to be exclusive, but no NBS posts, no BIF!

    This is partially my fault for not putting better details in the OP. We've had a few folks just kinda "BIF & Run", but mostly it's NBS regulars, so not an issue. You've been around enough that you wouldn't be on our "Watch List" (if we had one), but this is what I've basically been telling folks who've been messaging me about getting onboard:

    "It basically works like this: You will be given a "Target", this is the person you will send a box to. There will be a Hints and Hauls thread,where you leave hints for your target to try to figure out who you are. Most hints are fairly vague early, then get more specific. Once we have a firm "Share date" you have to make sure your target gets their box a couple days before, because the reason for this BIF is to support the weekly NBS thread.

    While this is going on, you'll be reading hints trying to figure out who your sender is. When you get your box, post a pic on the H&H thread, then do a review of some of the beers on NBS. You'll like get a few new brews, so if you post the week before, that's cool, and we generally have posts popping up for weeks after.

    The requirements are a minimum of 66-72oz (roughly 3-22oz bottles, 6-12oz bottles/cans, or some combination) and a piece of swag (Glassware and T-shirts are the most common). Most folks tend to send more than the minimum (so expect to include a couple "extra" bottles) and some guys go nuts. Walez are not a requirement, but some folks send 'em. The point is to send beer your target hasn't had before, thus qualifying as a "new" beer for NBS. So, local shelf beers are perfect. Feel free to look at your targets "Wants and Gots" lists on their profile page, and scroll through their reviews for ideas on what they've had, and what they like."

    Provided I'm still able to participate, this will be my first BIF as well.

    I do understand all the expectations, though. I've followed along with a couple BIF previously to learn the process and all of these things (the hints and hauls threads, the shares, the reviews) are what makes it so enticing to join in.

    @beertunes I'm in! My preference is certainly for March, but it's a selfish preference, as I will be moving around that time, and will certainly have moved come April.

    Can't wait to get back into the NBS BIF spirit of things!

    The "hints and hauls" thread in BIF #4 was the most fun I've had on any message board ..... ever. I built a spreadsheet to track all the hints, I checked the thread 3 or 4 times a day, I literally laughed until my sides hurt at some of the GIF's/meme's that were posted.

    And I learned WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more than I ever needed to know about the geography of multiple parts of our wonderful country. I felt like a WWII cipher, trying to intercept and decode messages from a U-Boat.

    Reading this post would've been beneficial for me before BIF #4. When I received my target, I contacted him to let him know I'd be sending him beer, and asked him what he liked. @WesMantooth was a gentleman and a scholar and didn't castrate me in the thread for my egregious breach of protocol.
