Yes, Rob was an employee at Merke when he started the brewery (they first had their beers brewed by General Lafayette). He is now a full time Prism owner/employee.

    Cheers!

I'm visiting Philly in about a month and a half, so I've been keeping up with this thread just to get an idea of the odds of getting cans and what to expect from their beers. I've never had any of their beers, is this snow globe thing common for them? Or just for the milkshakes? We have a NE IPA style brewery here in Ohio called Hoof Hearted that I frequently get cans from, and I've never seen the snow globe effect before in any of them. Just curious if it's what happens to all of TH beers, or mainly the milkshakes because of the lactose or something.

Haha thanks guys, yeah I think it just means I'll be looking out for their stuff on the secondary for awhile.

I really only get snow globing with the milkshakes if I recall? At least really visually off-putting separation.

And yeah I take my two year old every now and then but only if it's behind the bar or the line is through.

I don't think it's much of a mystery - they brew a beer, add fruit puree after fermentation, but don't cold condition it long enough for enough of the sediment to drop out prior to canning. The floaties are likely pectin haze.

So either: 1. Tired Hands thinks this improves flavor and it's intentional, 2. it's unavoidable due to the chemistry of their hazy beer brewing process, or 3. they are rushing beer to keep up with weekly canning.

I've only ever seen it with milkshakes. It doesn't happen with all of them either so don't worry about it. I was complaining about that one can but don't mean to dissuade people from trying it.
Thanks. I think we can rule out options 1 and 2 because not every batch has this issue. Not to mention that imo the ones that don't do this taste better.

Was that peach milkshake in your pic from last spring? The release right before Mothers day 2016?

Yeah it is, it's old. Nothing noticeable had changed between last night and 2 weeks after release though. The changes in milkshakes are very rapid in the first week or two and then they virtually stop.

If someone opened a passionfruit, lychee, or double mango milkshake today I can almost guarantee it would still be hazy and good even if it's an older can than peach milkshake. I find that the vanilla flavor is more prominent in those ones too.

Only 2 per-person for both beers, with 145 cases of the OV... about 430 allotments. This one will be gone soon, right?

Sounds like this is going to be gone fast. Hoping that they have it on tap this weekend at least

I doubt they'd want to subject any of their IPAs to an extended cold-conditioning period. It's not really appropriate for the style of IPA they brew, I'm sure they want to get the beer to can as soon as is humanly possible. No doubt the cost savings of not tying up their bright tanks is a bonus,

I'll be interested to see how fast it goes. "Stout with tea+vanilla" might not get people as motivated as "fruit milkshake."

They really need to start describing their stouts as Turbid. That'll bring the crowd.

Has anyone had Lapsang Souchong tea? It's disgusting. This OV variant should have a burnt, smokey type taste from the tea, if you're into that.

I was in the Fermentaria earlier today for lunch (noon - 2). There were plenty of chairs outside but not too many people inside.

    Cheers!

But I thoight the purpose of the chairs were to allow them to buy more at the Fermentaria and spend money there? I am confused now....

You guys sure love to complain. The majority of the chairs were people inside the ferm.
