The extent of my "trying" was to walk over to Binnys-Grand and see if they had it, as they did not, Im out. Got plenty of other good beers that I can't bother with missing this one.

How did all of the people that were in line even know it was going to be delivered this morning?

I'm guessing it was delivered last night and they sat on it until open. The regulars likely got tipped off.

Hide in the distro trucks, follow the shipment and then camp outside until it is released.

As someone who's only been deep in the Chicago beer scene for about two years, this feels crazy.

I can't imagine what this must feel like for those who have been around the scene for 10 times that long :grimacing:

Although as many have mentioned, there's SO many great BA stouts out there that it feels like I only need to "chase" once in a while.

I've been around for what is way too long at this point. At first I got a bit annoyed seeing great beers I used to be able to buy without a hassle get scooped up by truck chasing dopes or no-life line dwellers.

Thankfully, the brewery explosion occurred and the quantity and variety of incredible beers available began to offset the scene silliness. I have rarely, if never, waited in line for a beer and my bottle collection has tons of the "whales." Sure I may miss out here and there but my life is infinitely better not stressing about the newest "crazy epic beer" with mayo and bath salts added to it.

As nuts as it is, there are a lot of people that can keep track of about 50 breweries and know exactly which distributor they use, the exact days the distributors deliver, and how those days vary store to store. I mean, there are so many charitable causes towards which they could put both their brains and their time, but alas . . . beer.

The beer guys had been fielding a lot of calls about it for some time since it was allegedly supposed to be there last week. When it didn't show up last week, it was pretty clear that it would be there this week (i.e. today). So there was a line when they opened I guess ...

Edit: Also apparently there was some Facebook post in one of those closed groups about Grand getting it today. But Im not on any FB groups and that info came second hand from a friend so do with it what you will.

Its crazy and either its getting crazier or I just am losing my tolerance for/understanding of it.

I bet adding mayo to a beer would make it super opaque and hazy ... so its like a NE style beer with bath salts - sounds awesome. :grinning:

Can someone please explain why Madagascar is $24.99 at Binnys today? I'm told it was $16.99 yesterday at locations that had it, and wasn't it $16.99 last year?

I don't really care to try Madacasgcar but if those of you do, Bitter Pops will be tapping it at 6pm tonight.

Guessing they (Binny's) knows the demand for this beer is high and only received 1 case. Higher than expected demand = higher price.

Are the binnys locations in the suburbs getting any Madagascar today or just the city? There is usually the typical one week delay out in the burbs

This. A lot of people know the distributor's schedules. Either from working in the industry or having good friends who do. Or just being obsessed with this shit.

I picked up Beerery Bubble's Mayo Epic last month and heard that Mybeersbetter was aging its Crazy Bath Saltastic in Dial barrels, but have they collab'ed? Exciting.

considering their current "secret" method is to post it all on instagram, you are prob right lol. this was all posted not long ago. they aren't exactly hiding their releases.
