NBS BIF #5 sign-up thread

    So, looking at the calendar, how does everyone feel about this: Final day to sign up NBS on Feb 26, with pairings going out that week; share date on NBS March 19 or 26. I'm leaning towards the 19th, as things will move quicker, it'll help @Roguer with his move, and it keeps us out of the meat of March Madness.

    Thoughts and comments?

    I apologize in advance if my target gets their box a bit earlier than a few days before the share. I don't want it being delayed at the border, so I'm going to essentially do my research and attempt to get it out as quickly as possible after somebody tells me whose porch I'm going to destroy.

    Works for me, I'm gonna start shopping tomorrow and I think I might just get something that my target will find really peachy. Haha couldn't resist a pre H&H hint.

    After doing some research, I've come to a conclusion that I think will make everyone most comfortable. I'm going to participate, but I'll provide a US shipping address for my sender. No extra charges, no risk of the box being intercepted and the only downside is I'll just have to unpack the box before I go back across the border. Still get the Canadian participation but no risk for any of my potential senders.

    Sure. Pop in with a beer on the NBS thread Sunday. And, from back upthread, this is a general overview of things. If these aren't too large of hurdles, welcome aboard!

    "It basically works like this: You will be given a "Target", this is the person you will send a box to. There will be a Hints and Hauls thread,where you leave hints for your target to try to figure out who you are. Most hints are fairly vague early, then get more specific. Once we have a firm "Share date" you have to make sure your target gets their box a couple days before, because the reason for this BIF is to support the weekly NBS thread.

    While this is going on, you'll be reading hints trying to figure out who your sender is. When you get your box, post a pic on the H&H thread, then do a review of some of the beers on NBS. You'll like get a few new brews, so if you post the week before, that's cool, and we generally have posts popping up for weeks after.

    The requirements are a minimum of 66-72oz (roughly 3-22oz bottles, 6-12oz bottles/cans, or some combination) and a piece of swag (Glassware and T-shirts are the most common). Most folks tend to send more than the minimum (so expect to include a couple "extra" bottles) and some guys go nuts. Walez are not a requirement, but some folks send 'em. The point is to send beer your target hasn't had before, thus qualifying as a "new" beer for NBS. So, local shelf beers are perfect. Feel free to look at your targets "Wants and Gots" lists on their profile page, and scroll through their reviews for ideas on what they've had, and what they like."

    It all sounds great to me! And its okay to send the box a little early, right? And could I request that my box be shipped a little early too? I'll be out of town March 16-19 (March Madness weekend with some other BA's). But I'd love to share my box with them over the weekend.

    I'm in, whatever date is finalized, and I've already started shopping - may make it MI this weekend. Google chrome has been giving me massive crashes when I log into BA, totally locking up my computer and keeping me off the internet for the last few days - was able to bypass it and am now using my wife's computer and Firefox as my browser. E-mailed my Canadian trade partner about #5 but haven't heard anything back - he may contact you directly @beertunes. When we get going, please let us know about the status of adjoining states and previous pairs - knowing that I don't have to deal with NY, OH, NJ, or MD makes my spread sheet more manageable. Prosit!

    The 19th will be a challenge for me, unless I receive my package by the 15th. The 26th works very well.
