Gotta think it will go real quick again with Pink Dot only being 300 bottles. If They do 2 PP as usual, no way it'll last more than a couple hours.

Does anyone know if Built to Spill is growler only or do they have labeled 750 ml bottles of it as well? I poked around a bit and couldn't tell for sure.

I'm friends with the singer's brother and I'd love to get him a couple bottles since he's coming for a visit, but I'm less likely to go to the effort if it's just for unlabeled growlers (not that I doubt the beer is as good as everyone says it is).

    Thanks!

We really loved the taste of the Red Dot bottle we had. The issue was how incredibly sour and strong that shit was. Both of our stomachs were upset after and kinda ruined our afternoons. But it was almost worth the pains.

Everything is growler only, except for the Dot/house of fermentology releases

when Foam starts canning it will be the equivalent of TreeHouse, that's my prediction for 2017.

They will put a tag with "Built to Spill" on the neck of the 750

Their system is small, I think it's 7.5 bbl. Need a significant expansion before canning makes sense as they're selling out pretty much every week just from the taproom.

I bet they can get any bank to lend them some dough. Maybe my prediction is for 2018

Pretty sure Foam has only bottled 2 beers, both Brett Saisons - Ghost and Bubbles. House of Fermentology OTOH has done many releases.

Is HoF a true "side project" scenario (like SP is to Perennial or Orange Belt to Cycle etc) or is it just a separate building where the Foam brewers ferment their sours/wilds, and the name is more semantics than anything? Maybe if things continue to blow up for them, HoF could end up a stand alone brewery.

Yesterday's release was great. Line wasnt terrible and it looked like pretty much everyone who showed up at least around opening got bottles since they announced on FB just after 130pm they sold out. The weather was perfect and I don't think anyone was complaining waitng in line with the sun and 45 degree weather. A few dudes were in shorts, gotta love it. Then the 3 dots on tap that day in addition to ther killer ipas made for a great afternoon of drinking beer.

If/when things get bigger for them though, I assume they will have to change their system. Only 1 door for in and out traffic plus mixing growler fills, bottle sales, and bar order lines together is probably not going to work in that space if lines get worse than they were yesterday.

Foam has no plan to turn HOF into a separate brewery. It's housed in a bare-bones bay of a warehouse, filled with racks & racks of barrels and their bottling/labeling equipment. The base beer for the Dot series, at least once was brewed right across the street at Zero Gravity. HOF is a partnership between Todd & Bill Mares, and is primarily a blendery operation. The new foeder at the brewpub will be used for beers made there. I think I recall Todd saying first one will be a Flanders Red on sour cherries, but memory foggy from that convo. He did say the initial batch of Pink Dot that was postponed from summer failed conditioning expectations after bottling, so he started over with a new blend. To his credit, he refused to try & re-blend it to save the inferior batch. Now that is the ultimate quality control, imo.

House of Fermentology has been described to me as "Todd's Side Project" (Todd Haire). I can't find a story right now, but I heard that he actually does have plans to expand into a big warehouse space off-site. Not sure if thats just space for more barrels though, or if it's going to be a Stand alone HOF taproom.

Finally made it up there over the weekend. Very good stuff happening there. Wow. Not a fan of only 12oz pours, but it is what it is.

    Can't wait to get back.

This morning i overheard one of the brewers telling a customer that they just bought a new space and canning line. Not sure when it'll be operational.

Does anyone know how long they keep certain beers on rotation? Headed up there tomorrow and wanted to try out Pavement and Galaxie. Thanks!
