Well sorry then your statement was poorly constructed because you then might have meant " Rome is a more popular vacation destination than Gary, IN". Saying it is "more preferred" means one is chosen over the other. Again, it's fairly straightforward, I thought.

    Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck

    Anyway:
I was discussing this the other day with someone else, but the reason I don't give much of a shit about the highest-rated beers (aside from the fact that I'd like to try them at some point) is that in my experience, the difference in taste between "the best" and a "really good" or "great" example is usually like 5 or 10% (to make up random numbers). I'm perfectly happy drinking a 90% beer any day of the week, so I don't worry about putting too much effort into grabbing a 100% (and actually the numbers may be closer, depending).

Everyone in this thread needs a beer.

Speak for yourself - I prefer Gary to ... LOL, nope can't finish that statement.

For sure, but technically speaking one could argue that Bud Light is a more preferred beer than Julius .... I defy @croush to say that he prefers bud light to Julius :stuck_out_tongue:

The different is more like +/- 10%. I've had plenty of "top" beers I thought were worse than "shelf turds" but yes, the very best I've had are generally only like 10% better.

Arguing semantics is a sign that you have lost the actual argument. Moving on.

You are definitely correct that you could argue that and you wouldn't be wrong.

But we are on a craft beer website, in a NE-Style IPA thread, so I was sort narrowing it down to a smaller group of a beer drinkers.

Not quite. To prefer = to like better. Synonymous phrasing that doesn't necessitate being offered a choice.

I agree wholeheartedly; I wouldn't know Noon Whistle was doing this stuff without this thread.

    Grabbing a crowler this weekend!!

Exactly. Noon Whistle (see @beerbelly_mike?) is good shit, and there's absolutely no way I'd have tried their stuff if not for this forum/thread.

Joe prefers a Tree House beer to Anti Hero. Joe likes a Tree House beer better than Anti Hero. The latter sentence implies Joe has had both a Tree House beer and Anti Hero. Otherwise how would Joe know he likes better or prefers a Tree House beer over Anti Hero? Thank you. I rest my case. Now let's get back to discussing the inferior Chicago market.

One guy said he liked Local Hero over Tree House. Here's what was said back to him.

-everyone prefers what they prefer, but Local Hero over TH?
-Local Hero over TH is the funniest thing I've heard
-If you think Local Hero is better than TH and post that you deserved to be called out

There's no amount of untappd statistics anyone can throw out there that doesn't make that condescending. I don't think you guys meant it to be, or at least I hope not, but you have to realize that's how it appears.

P.S.: Last time I ever stick up for a guy with the Spartan as his logo, I promise.

The Pineapple Gummy Vortex is awesome guys. They aren't offering crowler or growler fills, and it's a really limited batch. Get down here and try it out!

There's also a keg of a Blueberry Gummy Vortex with the same filling rules as the Pineapple

I feel like I wasted time even more than usual reading all this...

Any time something gets a decent number of ratings, there will be people that like something way more/less than everyone else. It's like, your opinion, man. If it bothers you that much that someone likes Local Hero more than Tree House or McDonald's more than Au Cheval or Los Comales more than good Mexican food, you probably need to relax and have a beer. You can't call someone's individual tastes wrong. How many people are there laughing at us for paying $4 for a single can of beer? It’s a lot more than the number of people that rated Julius. By that metric, everyone on this site is wrong.
