Chicagoland NE IPAs (2018)

I restrain myself from talking about food regularly. I threw in that part because I don't get it. Los Comales is okay, but they're all in areas that have much better options.

To sort of get back on topic, if anyone wants to dump some Tree House, you know how to find me. I will happily give you some Local Hero in exchange. No judging!

 

I loved the pineapple taste on the end of it, it sort of sneaks up on you. I believe my initial reaction was along the lines of, "tastes like Gummy Vortex, but where's the.....OH! there's the pineapple! Damn this is good..."

 

Not me, I only laugh at people paying $20 for a 4 pack.

More power to you for loving the Chicago beer market. The draft beer market in NYC is significantly superior to that of Chicago, IN MY OPINION.

 

I had Glow with the Flow last night and it was a nice crisp APA with a decent hop bite - can't expect the same as an IPA or DIPA, but it should have some and be more drinkable. It was and I enjoyed it. It wasn't really hazy though. There other 3 options that say "New England" or "Hazy" looked the part, this one didn't.

 

oh my, it's like watching a press conference with our current president where if one keeps repeating the same thing over and over it somehow it is supposed to magically become true. Logic is apparently something you are not apt to hang out with either.

I noticed the same thing. I did a flight so in seeing them all next to each other, the Glow with the Flow looked nothing like Snoochie or Jacob.

What's the other option? That's all they had when I was there. Maybe I'll swing by this weekend.

In regards to Forbidden Root convo, it's their anniversary tonight so take advantage of the specials tonight.

Edit:
You can get a beer and a schnitzel sandwich for $10 tonight. It's awesome. The schnitzel is like 3 times the size of the bun it is on.

 

BAs- I am going to be in downtown Chicago (River North) for just an afternoon and evening with my family. Any advice on places to slip into to grab one of these Chicago NE IPAs? I would love to have time to get out to the breweries, but that is not going to happen. (Although I am angling for a stop at Noon Whistle on the way in) Thanks in advance!

The offerings at Noon Whistle are awesome - if you can manage to make it out, do it. The only other option(s) I know of on tap are at Forbidden Root. If you're looking for distro, the only ones really out right now are CHIPA from Marz, a 2/8 batch of Stratus and a 1/24 batch of Cirrus by Hailstorm (I'm sure I'm missing something somewhere)

 

The 4 releases they have had that were supposed to be NE style (I think this is in order of release):
Snooze Juice (APA)
Snoochie Boochies (DIPA)
Jacob Goes to Juicetown (IPA)
Glow with the flow (APA)

I think I liked the first 2 the best. I'd drink all of them again. I think just Jacob and Glow are around right now on draft, though it sounds like a new batch of Snoochie bottles is getting released today.
