Chicagoland NE IPAs (2018)

I just broke into my second four pack of Juice is Loose and it seems like it's already going downhill in taste. Has anyone else noticed this?

 

I've over bought on glasses recently, if you're on the Northside, I've got one I'd part with.

 

Unfortunately I'm in the south burbs. Which is to bad.

The new one. The first pack drank fine but the second pack is noticeably worse. And sadly I got three of them

 

Made it over to NoonWhistle today, just missed the fruit variants of Vortex. The black IPA though "We be logjammin" was damn good. I also picked up a growler of vortex and sixer of cosmo on the way out.

 

Super impressed with this brewery. Got there around 2pm and was surprised they had crowlers of Pineapple Vortex to go.

 

9 day old crowler of Gummy Vortex has clearly oxidized. Darker, diminished aroma, wet cardboard taste. Pretty much undrinkable.

 

Speaking of which...Modern Times released. 20 dolls 4 pack this week

 

Was blueberry on today?

 

Did not see it on tap. Pineapple GV crowlers to go but just a dozen or so when they opened.

 

Are those falling off after 2 weeks?

Modern Times is in the most heavily regulated/taxed state.

 

Hmm. I have one crowler left of Gummy Vortex that I will open tomorrow. I hope it's alright.

 

Eh, there's a number of variables that make crowlers a gamble. You can pump all the CO2 in them you want, but its still a human pouring beer from a tap into a can. Maybe it didn't seal right or maybe there was some headspace. It doesn't take much oxygen introduced to drop these super hoppy beers off quickly. Yours may be fine.

Fwiw I wouldn't have wait this long if I hadn't already drank one.

 

I had a Gummy Vortex crowler last night and it was just as good as before. About 8 days old if I remember right. Honestly that was longer than I wanted to wait, but I do think a growler or crowler tends to be fine longer than the prevailing wisdom I've tended to heard.

 

I had a 16 day old crowler of Funny Gummy that was perfect. Although as someone had previously mentioned, there are a lot of variables when filling those things.
