In general I find most of our local breweries in Raleigh to be underwhelming, however I recently saw something pop up on social media regarding the opening of Brewery Bhavana. Upon checking out their Facebook page and website, it LOOKS very promising. They seem to be focused on brewing some exciting styles and provided great detail when describing their smoked farmhouse porter. Anyone have any info on the brewer's history or does anyone have any other insight into what we can expect from the quality of beer from Brewery Havana?

Is that the one associated with Bida Manda? Maybe it will become the Raleigh version of The Answer in Richmond! Worth keeping an eye on for sure.

Yes it is Tom. Very high hopes for it. The interior of the space looks very nice as it's gotten built out.

Bida Manda is my favorite restaurant in the Triangle, easily. I am so excited for this.

EDIT: wow just checked the facebook page, it looks like a beautiful spot.

Really excited for this spot to open, both for the dim sum and the beer. Know one of the assistant brewers who's been an awesome homebrewer for a long time and just now getting a chance to do it professionally.

The brewery is in a separate spot, not sure if they will eventually have a taproom or if the restaurant will essentially be the taproom. These dudes definitely know good beer, I expect them to do lots of different styles well.

I thought I read it's a brewery, taproom, dim sum restaurant, and flower shop all in one?

The article you posted characterizes it as "a production facility, as well as a taproom, dim sum restaurant, and flower shop in the city off Moore Square."

I'm just saying I don't know if the restaurant will always be the sole taproom or if they have any plans to eventually have one at the "production facility" as well that's more basic like at a regular brewery.

I don't know what exact size their system is, but I think it's pretty significant, not just a little brewpub one.

Yea I think the production facility is in the South Park area just south of downtown at Bloodworth and Hoke.

I'm really excited for Brewery Bhavana to open since I live near downtown and also really excited for Barrel Culture Brewing and Blending to open since it's right near my work in RTP

I had never heard of Barrel Culture Brewing and Blending. Any word on that opening, it's sort of near Brier Creek.

No idea on their opening date but the beers they post on Facebook and Instagram look awesome.

While we are at it, should look into Forgotten Road Ales also. I think they are loosely associated with Barrel Culture, and might be located in Burlington. Lots of good stuff on the way in the triangle area.

After browsing their FB last night I noticed they replied to someone stating they'll be doing tastings in March/April and shooting for a May official opening.

Drove by there the other day. Right next to the Pour House. It's the old Tir Na Nog Irish Pub location. Two places I frequented often when living there. For the old schoolers do you remember Greenshields brewery? As always I look forward to trying out new beers and experiencing new beer culture. The local beer scene continues to grow and that is always a good thing for any area.

Yeah it's adjacent to Bida Manda, with the Pour House on the other side of BM.

Bida Manda is already my favorite restaurant in the Triangle, if the brewery is on par with them. I may just put a tent in the park across the street.

It really is hard to beat Bida Manda, have always had a top notch experience there. Only problem is everyone knows it and getting a reservation there has become a bit of a chore.

My sister came to town over Christmas and wanted to take her for lunch one day. I did not get reservations. Someone said I probably should, which surprised me. I was like “even for lunch, on a Tuesday?” so I did. We were one of the first tables sat, and 30 minutes after they opened every table was full as was the bar. It’s crazy but they deserve it.
