Having had some Treehouse, Trillium and other NE stuff like Bissell and Foundation, etc. it's great but I have to agree with the poster above. OH, Threes, Interboro, Kane, Carton and even some of the smaller breweries near me that are growler only(Conclave, Troon) make beer on the same level. It's just that we can easily get those beers and we always want something we're not used to. We have a LOT of great beer right here.

Christ I forgot just how massive the level of homerism was on BA. No real point in discussing further, enjoy!

That's your response? I've had beer from every one of the breweries I mentioned, and I visit NE every single year, drink and stock up to bring home. I love their beer, but I think we have very similar beer in this area at this point. Not homerism.

Edit: and we also have some shit beer in the area. That should satisfy you.

Name a carton IPA that is similar to anything TH and trillium is putting out. I grew up 15 minutes from them. I love carton. What's on the same level? Also, you left out LIC which imo has a significantly better portfolio than any of the others you listed. I watch the OH thread and laugh at the circle jerk that is that thread. It's largely far too boozy and abrasive to be anywhere close to TH or trill, but if you think it's similar, keep telling yourself that.

I very much enjoy NYC beer, but the comparison is fucking stupid.

None; however, Carton’s a bad example, as their focus is more on creativity/chief. On another note, Trillium is more replicable and widespread across NE breweries than Tree House...Tree House is unique

Indeed. I totally agree re: carton, but he used it as an example. I get that all of these breweries in NYC put out awesome beer. But none are close to the consistency and quality. Trillium produces a fuckton of awesome beer. All the NYC breweries have their moments for sure, but to say they are on the same level cause they've made a handful of beers that can complete is just ignorant when most of their beers aren't close. I'm all for awesome NYC beer, but saying that NYC beer is "on the same level" is wildly incorrect, imo.

It doesn't have to be similar tasting to be as enjoyable. But if we're just talking hoppy beer, I think Odub and the variants are extremely good. The first time I went to OH, I was unimpressed but I have had some amazing beer from them. I agree that there can be a "circle jerk" mentality as you put it but damn, some of their stuff like DMD and DDH DMD and DDH ACE are really good. Kane objectively cranks out excellent beer consistently. I don't know, I'm not sure what your point is here.

Just to be clear, I'm saying that I visit Maine every year and come home with massive amounts of NE beer that I love, but do ALSO think that our local NY/NJ scene has beer that MAYBE is not as good as the BEST NE stuff, is extremely enjoyable and possibly as enjoyable as the NE stuff.

There has never been a "point". I made a simple comment that no NYC brewery puts out beer at the same quality and CONSISTENCY as treehouse or trillium, and right after I got multiple people telling me I'm wrong and nyc beer is the best beer ever. I apologize that I disagree, but making a handful of beers that are on the same level is different than saying NYC beer is the same as what the NE brewers are putting out. Fwiw I also love Kane and have been a huge nj brewery fanboy for a while. Just trying to stay realistic. Didn't mean for this to turn into a fucking shitshow. But here we are. I'll now head back over to a different beer site and let you all enjoy this wonderful community.

FWIW I don't feel like this is a shit show. I just wanted to discuss this with you. You very well may be right about the consistency issue.

Ha, fair. That's honestly my only thing-I don't disagree that breweries here are putting out awesome beer (and I want them to!) but for me it's purely about the consistency around what those guys are doing-it's almost all fucking awesome. NYC is certainly getting there, but for every great beer I have there are 2-3 that are either forgettable or straight up bad. I also just feel like everyone wants to hype beers up to TH and trill level for trade value purposes, but that's another issue altogether. Fwiw I'm a huge LIC fanboy, but I try to keep it under wraps to avoid 11 hour overnight trips to OH or whatever people are doing over there.

It's great. Also is it the first can to sell out during pre-sell?

I vaguely recollect either their first or second pre-sale selling out of at least one can. Might be remembering wrong, of course.

New pre-sale. I'll probably pass on this one and try it on tap. Fridge is reaching can overload.
