Yeah, it isn't right off the interstate but if you go north off of I-90 up Randall (route 34), you'll drive by the Algonquin Binny's and if you're willing to go another 10 or so minutes north, you'll hit Garfield's.

On your way back to I-90, get something to eat from one of the hundred restaurants on Randall.

Awesome thanks all for the info. I am indeed going "into" Chicago, my wife bought us Hamilton tickets and will be staying in Magnificent Mile/River North. So I will hit up the Beer Temple and maybe the binnys on Grand Ave. Also, thinking of hitting up Links tap room for Lunch on Friday and Villains for brunch. Im sure theirs a million places that have good beer around the city but it seems like these places have some things I want according to beermenus. Would love to have some BCBS on tap too.

I would definitely recommend the LP Binny's over the Grand Ave. location. The Grand location is good (as are most Binny's), but since you have a car and will be going to Beer Temple, I'd use the car to go to Lincoln Park Binny's as well. The selection is just much larger there.

As for BCBS on tap, you should be able to find regular at least, and maybe even Prop. The stuff has been on tap so much this year. Using Beer Menus and Untappd can be very helpful in that regard, or if you post another message here on Thurs/Fri or DM me, I can let you know what I've seen for it being on tap this weekend.

Goose has pretty much had some form of BCS on every weekend since Black Friday. Last 2 have been Barleywine, so who knows, prop or coffee may be on soon.

Also, the taplist has looked really killer lately, with a fernet BA Stout among other things. It definitely might be worth a look into for a drink or 2. Especially over villains.

With the limited hours at the Goose tap room, i dont think I can swing it. Villains was for brunch, do you have a good beer place that does brunch?

I noticed you said that you were looking at Links & Villains due to what they show on beermenus. I would be hesitant to commit to those places based on what you see now on beermenus, as they will most likely change between now and the weekend. I will say that I've never been to Villains, but have heard some decent to good things about it...however, I've never felt like I was truly missing out. That being said, I'd like to get over there to check it out sometime. I know that was a somewhat political non-committal comment on the place, but just wanted to give my thoughts on it.

I like Links, but it's probably not at the top of my list. I would probably do Bad Apple for a lunch near Half Acre...not sure if they do brunch. Hopleaf is also a good to great beer bar (which I sadly haven't been to) that could be a lunch option...no brunch, though. Another place up that way that could be good is Jerry's Sandwiches...I've noticed they have some nice things on tap at both locations (Prop recently and BCBCS a couple weeks prior) - they have a small weekend brunch menu. The Publican has a nice brunch, with a carefully selected craft menu.

10 years ago Jerry's food was amazing. I've consistently been disappointed by it over the past couple years including raw meat in sandwiches and just other lack of care in the food prep. That being said, if you go just to drink, the beer list is always great.

Yeah, I can't speak to the food, just that he was looking for a brunch option with a good beer option. There aren't a ton of those, especially if looking for a great large beer list. Plenty of good options with smaller/carefully selected beers, though. I didn't know Forbidden Root did brunch, either...that seems like a good option, although I know nothing about their food.

I love Revolution for brunch, food-wise. While it won't offer a large variety of beer, and their beer varies in appeal, they do have a medium-size selection of guest bottles and cans (can't say which, as I never really get them).

I would say just go to Longman and Eagle in Logan square for brunch. It's my favorite brunch in the city, hands down. The beer list is solid, but nothing spectacular. They only have a few drafts, but they'll be local. No whales, but stuff you'd be happy to drink. They're mainly a whiskey bar though, and I just usually order a manahtten with brunch.

The food is fantastic though, and I would recommend it to anyone visiting from out of town.

Why not just look at Chicago on this site and view the breakdown of Bars/Breweries, etc. in the Places section, no?

For you're set on a beer bar, Fat Pour in wicker Park has a decent brunch, and a great taplist, and also some great vintage bottles, though in general, I think their prices are too high on just about everything.

They're also basically just a sports bar.

What's the chance of snagging a bottle of Rare in a couple weeks when I'm in the Chicagoland area? (For normal to semi normal Rare pricing)

Yeah, but its Fatpour. So you have to deal with a douchebag crowd (at peak times) and servers that know very little about beer. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate the place, I've had a few good times there. But there are plenty of options I would recommend first.

Yeah, not my first choice either, but I think in terms of food and tap list, it's definitely up there.

I would pick a bunch of other places with "lesser" beer however. I don't need $12 BA beers with brunch.

    I'll drink a $12 cocktail.

They're still available, at least in the NW suburbs.
