Just looked at the Tsunami cans at Binny's on Grand. If I remember correctly, I THINK the date on them was sometime in January?

Saw 1/30 at my Binny's. I realize that's just 4 weeks with the short month but I passed. Bring it new or bring it from Iowa. Don't go 0 for 2

I picked up pretty fresh (about 5 weeks old) Tsunami in Iowa last month and was very underwhelmed. I doubt I'll ever have it again.

Damn. That's disappointing. Been feeling like TG is unloading 'older' stuff on Chicago before bringing in newer batches. I suppose if people are buying them up, it makes business sense. But personally, that's disappointing to see. I'll just wait for stuff from Decorah, and hope that it's a month old at most when it arrives. Otherwise, plenty of great fresh options around here.

Yeah the question is how the chain works between Florida and Chicagoland. When does it leave Florida? Does it go to Iowa next? How long does it sit in a warehouse in Illinois?

All good questions, and maybe some clarity on that will come at some point. But regardless of the reasons, as someone who loves Decorah TG beers, especially PsuedoSue, all the variants of it, King Sue, Pompeii, etc etc... It has been a bummer to see what we're finally getting after having waited for distribution to come to Chicago.

Here's to hoping for fresher, larger selection of Decorah brewed TG beers coming to Chicago in the near future.

I have to think that will be the case...just seems to make sense. Plus, did anyone else notice on Twitter that we'll be getting King Sue in cans once the new brewery opens? I forgot to comment on that here when I saw it, and surprised nobody else brought it up.

Short's did not do themselves any favors when they introduced their beer to the Chicago market with older stock. Their distributor here is Breakthru Beverage as well. MO or coincidence?

Yeah I saw that. I'm not surprised, given that they'll be canning PS there too; seems like a logical extension,

However, WHEN IS THAT HAPPENING, GODDAMNIT.

Step your Twitter game up!!! I have had in my head that November is when the new brewery is supposed to be open...no idea if that's accurate. They did say they'll have ability to can both 12 and 16 ounce cans, and that King Sue would be 16 ounces. They didn't say we'd get it right when they open the new brewery either, so I'm guessing we've still got nearly a year to go.

Personally I think the first batch os King Sue in cans should be exclusively released in Chicago to make up for the swill they sent us initially. :stuck_out_tongue:

Boy, you have a few years to catch up before you can start complaining about TG sending out swill...

But yes, I also remember reading about KS in cans. I also remember hearing about how they'll have a keg of SR-71 when the new brewery opens. We just have to hold out until then. In the mean time, I'll enjoy these insane bombers they've been putting out from Iowa. Seriously the best batches of King and DDH I've had.

A little harder to hold out when you're drinking old/not-fresh cans of FL PseudoSue! :stuck_out_tongue:

I believe the whole state of Iowa would take issue with this since they've went for stretches without seeing any new product late last year, mainly to make sure there was enough to stock shelves in your area. Meanwhile, Minnesota still hasn't seen any King Sue hit store shelves and we've been getting TG for over a year now. By my count, you're now third in line. :stuck_out_tongue:

I do love everyone's faith and optimism that anything coming out of the new brewery will taste just as good as what's coming out of the existing one. Me, I'm going to be a bit more cautious...
