I had a wibtoberfest last night on draught. It is really good. I'll be on the lookout for cans.

Station 26's Oktoberfest was super tasty based on the couple sips I had yesterday. After years of Oktoberfests being isolated to Left Hand, 1 day at Dry Dock, and a few days at BJ's, we actually now have a ton of good ones around.
Seems like they've supplanted pumpkin spice (at least for now)...and most honestly ARE good.

I loath pumpkin beers and hate that they get lumped in with Marzens for this season. They are completely different and its only a coincidence they come out around the same time.

No question. I think it's timing and since most US versions are burnt orange, they look similar, too. Amongst those who know nothing about beer at all, they get confused with one another. I've heard people at Old Chicago mixing them up.

I actually don't mind pumpkin beers. I hate how cookie cutter they've become and how many there are, but I think they still have a place. I still drink 3-4 of the top tier examples every Fall.

Not to mention several of the US versions come out even sweeter then many pumpkin beers. It seems like an easy one to screw up.

A certain brewery in Longmont's has gotten that way. Sam Adams (the best selling Oktoberfest in the US) also leans in that direction.

Luckily, most of the ones in CO are more dialed back when it comes to sweetness.

Equinox Vandelay Dortmunder Export is the truth...

I don't have a very wide frame of reference for the style unfortunately, but I know its good whether it fits style guidelines or not. German lager yeast, subtle hopping, and crisp, light malty finish.

Gave them another try during a prior visit and really enjoyed what I tried. Will definitely hit up their taproom next time in Fort Collins.

Also...Bierstadt.....damn, they are fantastic. Only tried the Slow Pour Pils from them but I loved it.

Comrade is tapping El Nugg Hoppy American Lager tomorrow. Fermented with the famous Augustiner strain from Munich. Hopped with El Dorado, Nugget and Amarillo on a light American Pilsner malt base. Lagered for over 11 weeks. 5.7% ABV.

I think I mentioned it elsewhere, but I really dig the Cheluna Lowrider lager. If anyone has a guilty pleasure for Mexican lagers, this one is about as good as they come.

Avery has a new Kellerbier (I think it's different than their previous iterations) that's pretty delicious and definitely one of the better lagers I've had recently. 4.8% and hopped with
Hallertah Mittlefruh. It's got a pretty clean citrus character and I look forward to drinking more of it in warmer weather.

Speaking of Kellerbiers, TRVE's Cold is excellent. Pretty sure it's made with American hops (Centennial was the bartender's guess) but it's authentic in the right ways and modern in others.

After years of only having a few decent lagers and most new breweries being a crapshoot - our local beer quality has gone through the roof in the last 18 months.

Cold is Troubadour Pevec, Troubadour Wheat, Czech Lager yeast, and 100% Saaz throughout.

Thanks for the clarification - it's freakin' awesome. I never would have guessed Saaz, but that's pretty cool.

Glad to hear you dig it. We've been able to get some really cool character out of Saaz (last year we were getting big apricot notes from it). We didn't want this beer to be traditional because, you know, Bierstadt and Prost, but we also didn't want it to be too far from that.

It's Czech Saaz, and we had a fair amount of growlers as of yesterday.

Have you tried the Mexican Lager from Lone Tree Brewing? I'm no expert on the style so all I can say is that I dig it and if I was outside in 90 degree sunshine it would be even more awesome.
