But if they didn't blast it how would the world have known that they were donating all proceeds to a charity?

They know what they are doing, yes you might not like it, but they 100% know how to drum up hype and get their products noticed. Maybe someone that isn't going this year might go next year for the opportunity to get early access tickets. Heck I tried to buy them because I probably would have went if I got it, and had no plan on going this year (there are still tickets available right)

Not to mention that it's another chance to raise awareness for "Cut for a Cure" and the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation. It's another opportunity to get the name of the foundations out there. Maybe you don't have the $50 to spend on early access or missed out but decide to donate $20 to the charity.

The fact you actually said that you have hear this all before just reinforces your whining and shows your sense of entitlement. Time to move on and worry about something that actually matters.

Ok gentlemen, let's move on with the conversation for now before this thread gets locked. On Sunday the 12th you can come back here and argue it out all you want.

Agree. Ready to get back to important things like discussing, after Huna Day, about how last years was much better and the Huna from 6 years ago crapped all over this years. Don't forget about the guy who cut in line and when I complained to security they told me to be a big boy and get over it. NEVER GOING AGAIN.

So looks like CCB has their own "trailer" or area again right when you walk in with 10 booths. That seems to suggest they'll have more than 12 beers on tap.

I saw the early access tickets as a last minute thing - not necessarily something outright lazy on their part.

I'm with Sabtos in that I am not thrilled that I didn't have a chance to participate because I don't actively use Twitter/Instagram all day but I understand why they chose that as the medium to share the early access news.

I have since setup push notifications on my phone in Twitter and Instagram for CCB and JWB accounts -- should have done this a long time ago.

Dude you don't have to scroll through shit. All you had to do was set push notifications on social media for CCB posts. You know this is how they do things. How do you know? Because this is how they did it last year. Stop bitching it's annoying everyone

You all should follow the DLD thread, because this thread has nothing on that. At least this conversation is still on topic.

@Todes and @Bartos Forcing people to follow social media, i.e. advertising platforms, is what inflates the bottom line. The charity has nothing to do with this point I'm making.

Why credit CCB for directing all of the world to a link that is benefiting a charity by selling special access tickets for a closed event to attendees to that closed event?

The charitable cause is great. CCB can promote said charity any way they wish. But it would likely be done more effectively and thoroughly, and with less confusion, by being promoted separately from a closed event such as Hunahpu's Day. As it is now, most random people that saw the early entry link were probably wondering what the connection was and whether they had to do anything regarding Huna day.

I don't know why the word entitlement gets thrown around so flippantly these days, but lets address it.

Entitlement means having a right to something. I purchased two 12 bottle tickets. I feel like I am entitled to be directly conveyed pertinent information for an event I actually purchased tickets to. Especially when they are the most expensive tickets.

The way they disseminated this information suggests to me they are more concerned about their image and hype as opposed to actually keeping informed the attendees of this festival who have already given them their money.

I literally have no idea what you're talking about. Not a clue. As I've stated, I don't, and never have had, a social media account of any kind. All I know is what I've experienced vicariously through others, i.e., the endless scrolling through ads, babies, cats, and fake news. I mean if you want to keep defending the overuse of, and over reliance on social media, be my guest. It seems like a laughable endeavor to me.

Part of what drives my irritation on this is that this isn't the only thing that has pissed me off regarding this festival.

Don't get me wrong I will likely have a great time, in person I am a light-hearted, easygoing guy just trying to catch a few tastes of whales then enjoy my time the rest of the day. But there were things that could have sucked less last year, and this year I haven't had the greatest experience starting from day one of the sudden ticket release, which I think was a cool idea, but, again, having a job and not having a smartphone it was a bit of a shock when it dropped.

As such, I was pressured into securing 12 bottle tickets because, that's all that was left when the first tickets became available, and I thought they would sell out like they had in years past. Yet, they never sold out, then all of a sudden, they were split up, and still to this day, 4, 8, and 12 bottle tickets are still available for purchase. This is great for those that are extreme procrastinators, but...annoying for those of us that didn't want 12 bottles, and a bit concerning for many reasons most of us have already expressed.

This whole thing has been handled a lot worse than people are admitting. The homerism and auto-defensiveness is rich and really unwarranted. Unless you work for CCB, I really don't understand the vehement defense of laziness and mismanagement. It affects everyone equally, and whether you love CCB or not you can still recognize where things could have been handled better.

You do realize that you can control what you see and don't see on Twitter right? Who the hell are you following that all you see is cat memes and fake news all day? Might want to start unfollowing some of the accounts to help cut down with the clutter on your feed and just follow CCB.

Additionally, you can turn notifications on so that when particular accounts of your choosing post you get a notification saying they did. That way you don't even have to scroll through thousands of cat memes, or whatever other weird stuff is on your feed to find the CCB post. You probably already know that because you are not that lazy to research how you can best make social media work for you in instances like this.

Lastly, I don't understand the urge of annoyed people to feel the need to use the Internet to tell complete strangers that they are annoyed. We don't care, seriously, we don't. If I'm not mistaken, this thread is for Hunahpu day 2017, not, I want to complain about this terrible injustice that I have sadly been the victim of. I'm sorry you didn't get tickets, I really am, but so didn't about 3,400 others. If you want to create a thread to discuss/bash CCB methods of communication please feel free. However, it would be nice to see this one turned back into what it was intended for in the first place. Hunahpu day.

If you don't want to actually read what someone posts, why respond so thoroughly to something you didn't even make an attempt to comprehend?

Besides, this discussion is 100% applicable to Hunahpu's Day. It's not off-topic in the slightest.

That's what I was trying to say originally lol! (It's still there too). Could have been a one and done comment. But for some reason people have an undying urge to complain about complainers, as if that will teach them a lesson. Seems a bit hypocritical and fruitless.

It's 2017. You choose to be outside of certain social circles, and you know companies use these mediums for communication. You can't really bitch about it. So you didn't get what you wanted, move on.

Also, your disdain of Facebook and Twitter feels like something that should be on reddit.com/r/iamverysmart.

I think it's because your vehemently defending your point of view is really amusing to probably 99% of the people in this thread.

It's like taking a nostalgia trip to the early 2000s and watching someone have a meltdown over why they need an email address

So are people on iOS still having issues with the app? I find it odd that they haven't pushed out an update for it? Still says 2016; still has last year's beer list/map.

I know How I will be able to find Sabtos at Huna day. He will have the fanny pack and the flip phone. Seriously, just get over it. Or would you have liked Joey Redner to have personally called you and told you about the early entry tickets.

Enjoy your 2 cases of Huna.

lmao...well, those people don't seem to be responding, because most responses seem to be taking my criticism personally, as if I'm attacking their very way of life or their family. I think it would be a lot more fun if the people with a sense of humor had something more to say, but I'm glad I could entertain the silent majority that think I should provide all of my personal information, habits, interests and relations to Mark Zuckerberg and friends so they can sell it :stuck_out_tongue:

I bought tickets to the event. If they can't bother to communicate directly with attendees, it seems pointless for them to even collect that information in the first place.

Right on @FrankenMiller ... but it's a slidephone, lmfao! Maybe the fanny pack will have all previous years taster glasses in it...for good measure :grinning:

I literally have no idea what you’re talking about. Not a clue. I don’t and never have had an app (on my phone or in a restaurant). The fact that CCB uses an app for the event is just plain laziness… I want a 24” x 32” map with legends detailing brewery locations, brews, tap times and lines wait times.
