Has CCB said anything about updating the app? I just tried DL'ing on my Android, and it's still 2016 version.

The map and the event information is still 2016 (as is the title of the app).

But the Brewery and the Beers listed under the breweries appear to be correct for the 2017 festival, at least on the Android app.

    Why? Who knows...

Wow. I can't believe some people are still going on about how CCB sold their 100 early-entry passes. (that they don't have to sell and give all proceeds to charity, nonetheless)

    Guess what?
It was YOU who was lazy not to follow CCB and set alerts.
You would be just as likely to miss out given any other form of sale. 100 <<< 3,500.
This is NOT considered important communication re the event for the attendees, so don't try and make it out to be.
An email to everyone about it would only upset/annoy everyone except for the 100 (or 50 really).

Paint it how you want, but if you are complaining it's because of sour grapes and entitlement.

2017 Beer will continue to get worse. #boldpredictions

I'll admit that I haven't studies the new list or counted the number of beers but glancing at it...it looks like CCB is bring a lot less offerings but there will be more beers from the other breweries.

I felt like last year, most breweries only had 2 or 3 beers. This year there seem to be more breweries with 3 or more beers listed

I'm going to give you some counter-perspective here. You probably won't like it but I'm not trying to argue for the sake of arguing or upset anyone.

    1. CCB has had plenty of trouble with online sales. Early-entry is NOT an example of an area CCB has had trouble with or messed up on.

    2. 2016 Huna don't line up before 10am. I showed up just after 10am and was 1,000+ back. However, they screamed through the line and we were in by 11:20. Line never stopped the fast paced walk. They still needed to improve and they have addressed it this year by giving 2 hours to "pre-check" everyone possible and keep in holding area for mass entry right at 11. Acknowledge that they have made improvements each year to do better, as '15 was absolutely 10x worse.

    3. So you bought a 12-bottle ticket because you were worried about missing out? That is not being hoodwinked. Sure, I understand that you didn't want to miss out thinking they would sell quickly so you went with what you thought was your best chance. However, you weren't tricked. Also, you can easily unload those bottles at cost.

    4. Early entry: twitter/FB is the cheapest and quickest way to do it. Emails get sent out by batches and likely cost CCB money (not much, but anyone that sends out 1,000+ emails uses a service). Imagine the whining when tickets sold out before the majority even had it in their inbox. Facebook and Twitter propagates MUCH faster for the entire user base = much fairer.

    Cheers

I was there the moment the line started forming. It was basically 1,000+ people all simultaneously moving towards the entrance from the Marriott and then stacking up behind each other. I started walking within probably 5-10 seconds of the line beginning to form and still ended up at least 700 people back. How exactly would you suggest CCB or the city was supposed to stop that?

CCB was instructed by the city that early lining up and blocking traffic would be prohibited. CCB did their best to comply by issuing those warnings, for fear of losing their event permit. But, when 1,000 people simultaneously do something like that it's out of CCBs hands. And nothing is going to be done unless the city is willing to start tear-gassing and arresting 1,000 peaceful beer fans (and is prepared for the publicity nightmare that would come with that).

There were certainly aspects of last year's festival that were poorly managed by CCB, but trumpeting the city's mandate not to line up early isn't one of them.

My group crossed the street just before 10am (I checked my watch when we parked and it was 9:50), and we were several hundred back, maybe 1000. We were inside within 15 minutes of the start, and most breweries had no lines with the exception of the obvious ones pouring whales. It really wasn't that bad considering it's basically impossible for 3000+ people to all enter instantaneously. This year should be even better.

Just to show the extent of how people will complain about anything, here's a reply on their FB post about the early entry passes:

"I went to Hunahpu day in 2013 for a pre-bachelor party and it was great, busy, but great. Ever since then it's almost impossible to go the way you sell your tickets. I'm glad you're donating to a great cause this year though."

I want to reply to this idiot and tell him that tickets are -still available-, but if he's too dumb to figure that out himself (or thinks the early entry passes were the only tickets) then he deserves to not go. Not to mention last year tickets were available for a solid 24 hours once the server issues got sorted out.

CC replied to a comment on one of their Instagram post's that the app would be updated this week. I'm using iOS and I haven't seen an update appear yet. The week's not over though.

I reached out to them yesterday and they replied that an update to the app would be pushed out prior to the festival. No ETA, but one is coming.

Including the significant decrease in number of CCB beers, there are nearly 100 less beers this year than last year.

That's what it seemed like to me. Most breweries on there only have 2 or 3 beers listed. CCB only pays for 2 sixtels from each brewery so seems like most aren't volunteering to send anything additional.

You can only get to so many whales before they run out. And once those kick in 30 minutes, you're stuck with fewer beers to choose from, which will then just kick sooner than they did last year.

As it was, there were about 20-30 breweries left pouring for the last hour of the fest. I suspect there will be even less this year.

I actually don't expect CCB to stop people from lining up early.

But I would have preferred they didn't warn us that we would be accosted by the cops simply by lining up early.

That's all I would have preferred.

The line was never blocking traffic, and was never even at risk of blocking traffic due to the large sidewalk, parking lot, and side street space--even when it wrapped around to the highway. People lined up in an orderly fashion, stretching into the grass and beside the highway barrier.

The repeated urgent-seeming warnings by CCB just served to force those of us that follow directions and show up at open to have to wait outside of the festival for an hour to get our fucking ID cards verified--which is a whole other laughable formality.

I'm definitely not following any sort of instructions this year whatsoever, and I have a sneaking suspicion that goes for damn near 100% of all other attendees as well, which could make for an interesting situation.

This simply reinforces the theory that people's crowd estimation skills are very limited. See: occupant of the office of the presidency :grinning:

You definitely weren't standing behind thousands of people if there were no lines inside the festival when you entered 15 minutes later...

Again, it's hilarious to me that I have to reiterate: for how much you all claim to hate complainers, you sure love to complain about complainers.

    Classic.

Except if they all kick at 11:15AM and we're all looking at 4 hours of Jai Alai :stuck_out_tongue:

Edit: I see, you have skip the line passes...hence your vehement defense of their method of informing us. Congrats.

They are not available, but did not sell out. They just do not have time to get bands to people who order them now.
