Good morning BA, have a great Saturday! Looking to be a relaxing day after a long productive work week for me. Thankfully things have tapered down to more manageable levels. Still remaining really busy, just not overwhelming. After a trade box and a beer haul last weekend, I have a lot of work to do on the beer reviews in the next few weeks.

Incredible American stout as always. Flavors of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, toasted dark bread, and smoke/charred malt; with moderate herbal, pine, spicy hops; and some mild raisin, plum, licorice yeast fruitiness. Moderate pine and roast/charred bitter finish. Creamy, silky, and fairly sticky/chalky balanced medium-full body mouthfeel. Some light increasing dryness from hops and roast/char character. One of my top classic favorites in the style along with Kalamazoo stout. Need to get another full 6 pack again soon.

Awesome this year. Flavors of ruby red grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, passion fruit, lemon/orange peel, citrus rind, and pine; with some honey, cracker, bready malt balance; and floral/grassy hop earthiness. Moderate pine/rind/peppery bitterness on the finish; touch of fruit tartness. Medium bodied; crisp, sticky, resinous, and fairly grainy mouthfeel; touch of fruit acidity. Very drinkable with juicy hop/fruit flavors. Increasingly drying and never astringent. I am still tempted to buy a 12 pack, but I keep grabbing these as singles while I can.

Revisiting this review after 6 years. This was incredible! Aromas and flavors of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, nutty dark roasted coffee, caramel, toffee, toasted oats, dark bread, marshmallow, and molasses; with lighter notes of vanilla, cream, smoke, dark fruits, and herbal/woody hops. Light-moderate herbal/woody hop and roasted coffee bitterness on the finish. Fairly full bodied and creamy/silky in the mouthfeel; with some light sticky/chalky roast, and lightly increasing roasted dryness. Minimal warming 10.9%. Wonderfully unique and intense complexity from the coffee, and great balance with the base oatmeal stout. Glad these finally showed up here, something I would buy again. 4.3

4.5 year revisit review, a younger bottle this time. The one I had was 6 years at that time. This is 2 years, and absolutely insane! Aromas and flavors of huge raisin, prune, plum, fig, date, cherry, apricot, pear, apple, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, molasses, toasted brown bread, tobacco, and herbal hops; with hints of licorice, peppercorn, and yeasty earthiness. Light-moderate herbal bitterness and peppery yeast spice on the finish. Full bodied creamy, slick, and lightly syrupy mouthfeel; with some stickiness and increasing spicy yeast dryness. Lightly warming 18%, zero booze. Damn! Definitely hope they bring this back eventually. I only grabbed 1 bottle 2 years ago assuming I would need to age it for 5 years, but this is absolutely ready to go after 2 years already. Insanely complex and well balanced. Never overly sweet or alcoholic. Nicely drying on the sweetness. Sign me up for another batch. 4.42

    Cheers

Looking forward to a lazy weekend. Our son is home on break from college; good to see him. He's almost done with his junior year. Time flies!
I am starting today with a breakfast sandwich and a breakfast stout.
    Happy weekend to all!

Was excited to get my hands on one of these. Really good! Like the heat coming off of this but could use just a little bit more vanilla in my opinion. Cheers BA!

I am not surprised, but a little cheaper? $14.99 is what I pay in NH for the 25 oz.

Looks like you still have a good deal of snow there. We're pretty much down to bare ground.

Long walk with dogs over this beautiful Saturday morning. Time for what is perhaps my favorite breakfast beer:

Giving this another shot. 13% Stout at 8:30 am really sets the tone for the day!

Just a tiny dusting last night and one of my snow bankings, it is melting like crazy. I hope we are done with storms for the year, but I worry about another few storms.
