Pb Thursday is on tap for RS? I hope that's not a typo.

Yes total bs. They can't make more than 3-5% of their profits out of pours in the tasting room. How much of a financial difference could this hike possibly make

I was on the fence about getting a RS growler but now I'm not going to. Also I'm at the tasting rooms 1-2 times a week but I probably won't stop by unless there's something I really want to try. Even with the society discount it's still more expensive than Bottle Logic tasters. :slight_frown:

so I haven't actually cracked any bottles with my new hoarders bottle opener, but im pretty sure I could. I was opening a bottle a few nights ago and thought I heard the sound of glass cracking. there's a 1cm long line in the side of the bottle just below the top that could be a crack. I was just testing it out, and it actually seems to catch on the lip of the bottle where the cap is. comparing that with other bottle openers which slide over that lip. I'm wondering if it's sort of luck of the draw if your nail is rotated in such a way then you might be breaking bottles.

Still cheaper than way worse beer fests I've been to. That brewery list is pretty awesome, especially for an out-of-towner like me.

If u look at the opener with a cap in it, it squeeze's the cap to much and forces the pressure onto the glass around the lip of the bottle. At least thats how mine is.

It's more than $1 increase for the tasters?
I was thinking just last week when I was at the bruery... bottle logic is more expensive.

Unless BL has one of their whales on tap... the bruery consistently has much better stuff available.

    Regarding the price increases:

I'm not sure what to make of it.

I've never thought of The Bruery as a "value" brewery. Its more of a luxury brewery to me. By that I mean their beers are priced on the high side, even when compared to beers of equal quality. But as an RS member I feel I'm getting more than great beer. I am paying for great customer service, proper storage of my beer until pickup, exclusive events, guaranteed allocations, shipping options when I can't pickup my beer, exclusive pours and growler fills, and most importantly, the avoidance of shit shows.

I only get to the tasting room about 6 times a year. Admittedly, I did enjoy the discount we got on growler fills, but my motivation on buying the fill was because it wasn't bottled, or I wanted to supplement my bottle purchases. So the price increase is unlikely to effect my buying patterns.

But I am curious as to the driving factor for the price increase. Should we expect similar increases in bottle prices and membership fees in the next year?

Drinking a 2016 SHIT that's definitely a little acidic. Still tasty but probably not what they intended. Is Bruery offering refunds or credits on these?

Their new MO is that they now charge you $5 if you want a return. Times are tough.

Wait, what? So if I open a bottle that is bad and report it I get $purchase-price minus $5?

if you put up a fuss like you are now then it goes to $10. Do you know how many children Patrick Rue has to feed?
This is a joke. I am kidding. But it seems in line with their current bump in prices.

I had no idea they accepted returns. That being said, in all the years I've had their beer (and been a PS/RS member) I can't think of anything of theirs that I've tasted that's come close to the level of "2015 Bourbon County Stout Coffee" refund-ability.

A fill of Melange 1 is $50 for 2L which means a RS32 is likely $26. A year ago I got this fill for $15/$16 and it seemed like a stretch even though I still filled both my RS growlers with it when available. This is my favorite Bruery beer. With this pricing it's as if growler fills isn't something they really want to do but will at these new higher levels. Maybe it's the answer to 'make more fills available', but I'm still majorly bummed over it.

They should return more money since we stored the beer. They charge more for older beers for the same reason.
