I'm on the 10th day of a 15-day no sugar/no beer fast - I've lost 10 lbs but let me tell you I'm really craving a beer. Even a basic lager would be fine. I think it will do wonders as far as re-setting my palate and re-igniting the passion.

10 lbs in 10 days? That seems a bit much

I completely agree. I know a few others on the same plan and the same thing happened - one lb per day. That's why it's over in 15 days. It's amazing what cutting out sugar will do.

I feel ya. I lost about 90 pounds recently and cut out beer a good portion of the time. One or two nights a week is plenty for me nowadays and even then I'll drink whiskey or something instead because it's less calories. I feel jealous of people who can drink every night and not end up at a burrito joint and gain like 20 pounds a month

That'd be me w a high BMR. I couldn't gain weight if I tried. I'd have to cut out sleeping so I had more time to eat.

I couldn't drink for a few months last year and lost 5 pounds even though I started eating more deserts to compensate. I don't even think I drink that much compared to most people.

I always take a week and half off for finals, I have to have a clear mind.

I always have a clear mind when I drink. For instance, I just finished drinking a beer and it's clear to me that I want another one.

I've been trying for no beer Monday through Wednesday. However, special events like Fat Tuesday mess that up.

Hey, live the way you feel is right. I quit the heavy stuff and went to mostly beer while also cutting down on snacks and lost 30 lbs. Still need to lose another 15 or so but I am a beery and a foody and enjoy life's pleasures. Save $ by not dining out because I also enjoy creating culinary delights for my family. Having a few drinks makes the cooking more fun....just sayin'.

I step away one nite a week. Sometimes a milkshake, other times a no alcohol beer at nite. No way can i drink more than one O'Douls a nite. Usually turn in early and up early next day looking forward to the next happy hour. I am one though, that believes 2 beers 7 nites a week does absolutely no harm to most people.

Got to be your metabolism, one or two beers and a lot of exercise should see some good results. I work out a lot too but my addiction is various types of nuts and snacks eaten along with the 2/3 beers that keeps me from losing my spare tire

Completely understand OP, I like beer but I try to enjoy it on the weekends or sometimes during the week if I'm on vacation. I've quit worrying about IPA freshness. Just a few weeks ago I bought one month old Stone IPA, :grimacing:, I enjoyed it and still have a few cans that I'm in no hurry to consume.

I usually don't keep alcohol at home, I only drink when I'm out with my friends, on vacation, or some event like a basketball game or concert.

I'm trying to lose some weight, so I've vowed not to buy any beer to drink by myself at home until I reach my weight goal. It isn't easy. I hit up tap rooms, but, knowing I have to drive home, I usually only have one. I've maybe cut my consumption by a third.

Im in the same boat. Decided to drop 50 pounds and have finally gotten into a good swing of eating better, drinking less, and getting to the gym. Cutting carbs and sugar out has helped me with cravings and It makes those few weekend beers even better. Good luck on getting to your goal!
