^^In the past the society member had to be present since it was "Society member +1,2,3"

So the only name they cared about was the one that matched the card. Since there are no cards this year, they will likely just use our names on their master list.

Not just that but I wouldn't have bought a SECOND growler if I knew fill prices were gonna jump 50% in 2 months. At least I got a couple of fills in with the 2nd growler already. They were still for sale last week. I feel bad for anybody that haven't been able to pick up and use theirs yet.

Stasis releases at Bottle Logic are 6oz for $7 and that's just down the street. Even if we say they're only equal to the Mash variants in quality, that's still more ounces for less money at BL.

The taster oz/$ increase isn't bad.

    The rest do sound though.

Although 7$ for 10oz pour of mash & coconut seems like an underpricing
Wasn't the bottle like 22$ after discount?
    $21 for 3 10oz pours

    And that's saying something...
I've always considered Bottle Logic overpriced compared to the Bruery... now it sounds like its becoming the other way around.

I haven't heard anyone say that they shouldn't have increased price, it is the large increase in price that is the issue. If a 10oz pour went to $10, I could have bought that, but not $8 for 5 oz, I mean that is crazy. Essentially the only beers I will try at the tap room now are beers I want to sample before purchase, if there are any. The only beer I would even try a taste of this month is beret w/vanilla+peaches. I would then leave the tasting room. The rest I have had or don't sound like my style.

I agree with this! We love you @BruerJoel, and thank you for all you do. You've had to put up with a lot of flak from us.

With that said, even with your explanation, this price increase doesn't make sense to most of us. What really disappoints me is the fact that I love the Bruery and I love going to the tasting room. Doing the math, a visit to the TR will now cost me anywhere between 50% to Twice as much more, which means that I can't come as much... A flight that cost me $5 last week will cost me $10 now, and I simply can't afford it (in addition to the allocations I already buy), so something has to be cut. I completely understand the need to raise prices, but not to this degree.

@BruerJoel when does the chocolate rain merch go on the site?

While I get why people are upset, this doesn't impact me all that much and definitely doesn't make me reconsider whether I want to have a membership in one of the societies. I get to the tasting room once a month at best and basically never order full pours or fill growlers. So having to spend $17 on a flight that used to cost $12 isn't that much of a big deal to me. If $5 is determining whether I can afford a flight, I have bigger things to worry about. I do get the frustration over the change in price of full pours of the big beers but I also think they were pretty cheap relatively speaking.

This is all pretty obvious but had they done half of this price increase two years ago, this would be an easier pill to swallow but having it all at once is tough.

We plan to release merchandise to Reserve and Hoarders Society members before the public sale - as early as next week.

I helped run a chain of coffee stores for many years and when you rely on core business from loyal fans and repeat customers, price increases are like a third rail topic. There's literally no good way to address. If you do them too often people get grumpy that you're constantly raising prices. If you put it off then you end up forcing folks to swallow a big pill. Ultimately, as a business owner, the rip-off-the-band-aid approach is often the lesser evil: get all your "this is going to suck" in at once, so you can more quickly move on with making people happy again. I would guess that The Bruery has deferred this increase for a long time, and that they hope to not do another increase for a very long time. Not that I expect that to make anyone's wallet feel better

Not picking on you Original_Fake, just hit reply to last in thread.

Hey... so 'bout these new beers! Excited to hear everyone's thoughts. With everyone staying home should be shorter lines at TR now, right? Right? Too soon?

I'd love to try them... but $5 for a taster of Chocolate Rain IS too steep!

I also don't know of any coffee shop that would raise their prices by 50-100% in one felt swoop and not get the blowback that these guys are getting. Yes, it may be sticker shock, but it does make $4.50 tasters at Bottle Logic and $8 flights at Beachwood look a lot better!

Yep, totally agree. It's not a perfect comparison, but I think it's fair to say gourmet beer has more inelastic demand than coffee, which bridges that gap somewhat.

Judging from IG pictures, looks like a decent number of people making their way through Terreux for SMM today. I'm curious what the updates were today for how SMM is run, other than opening 4 hours earlier of course. Looking forward to stopping by later, hoping it's not too painful a trip.
