You're right, I got that backwards. That's still more than bottle price, though.

This is fascinating to me because growlers have always struck me as a more expensive way to buy beer and really meant as a way to get beer that isn't available bottled. I think growler standards are very regional, as suggested by some other posts.

I'm in San Francisco, and there's a few local breweries with tasting rooms that do around $10 for 32oz fills of just basic IPAs and such (Iron Springs, Bare Bottle, Laughing Monk). Effectively the same price as just drinking in the tap room.

Sierra Nevada's Torpedo Room in Berkeley, which is specifically a tasting room and growler fill locale run by Sierra (they don't even serve full pints), charges $15 for 64oz of regular Pale Ale (and $2 for a 4oz taster). You could walk into many liquor stores in the area and get a 12 pack (144oz) for about the same price.

I agree in general, but I am a first year RS and bought the growler based on prices in late 2016 and early 2017. I likely wouldn't have bought the growler based on the current prices.

I thought this was phenomenal. It's really bold and heavy-handed with the vanilla (which I like), but the peaches still really come through. If you like subtle flavors in your sours, then this might be a bit much. I really enjoyed it though.

Good enough description for me to buy a few.

Any other reviews on Share This: OC? Given the price point and the previous Share This beers, I was more excited for OC than the other three.

I'm totally looking forward to the beret with peaches and vanilla !

As for the pixie stick flavor, you're saying it taste super sweet like straight sugar ? (If I'm understanding that definition correctly)

Kinda, but you know how you get the slight tartness from the pixie sticks coupled with the raspberry peach that melds to a fruity flavor but ends up somewhat indiscernible to pinpoint.

I liked it but I thought that my full pour was a bit much.

Seems to me the people upset the most are the locals who go to the tasting room often. As a member who makes it to the tasting room a couple times a year, the price increase doesn't affect me all that much. I opted to NOT buy a growler this year for that fact alone. Hell, I forget to bring my growlers damn near every time I do go to the tasting room.

I still go back every time to if it's something beer related that makes you upset, just don't spend your money there. The Bruery will still get my money.

I didn't think the Valise was overly sour probably even less sour than Frucht.

Have not tried Valise yet, given I live out of state. But I only wish to observe that I personally don't find Beret to be all that sour. To me it's definitely more of a fruited witbier. At least that's true for me when it's fresh. It may take on a more sour character over time. I've just never let it get that far...

To play devils advocate here though, who are the ones most impacted and also more important to the Bruery? The same people that are complaining. Someone who goes twice a year doesn't make an impact on the bottom line, the ones that go twice a week do. You alienate those people are you are going to do some serious damage to your business.

I'm curious to this theory also. Beret isn't near as sour as the Frucht series from my tastes, so maybe the scale was backwards?

I am also one of those people in the category of hour+ away from the Bruery, who being not local, only gets to the tasting room a handful of times a year. As such, going to the tasting room generally requires planning, setting aside several hours to most of a day, to do so. Which makes it a bit of a special event and therefore we are least likely to allow the pricing change to effect us.

But as others have pointed out, true locals, people that stop by multiple times week and treat The Bruery as their local watering hole are impacted more significantly.

And to be completely fair, "spend your money elsewhere", is exactly what some of these people are saying they are going to do.
