Insight's East vs West IPA 4-packs are starting to show up in liquor stores. It features 2 cans of NE IPA and 2 cans of West Coast IPA. Insight released a NE IPA in their taproom last year that was met with a resounding "meh". The last one was a slightly hazy Cascade-hopped IPA, so hopefully they learned their lesson.

If it can match their last batch of Mosaic, it'll be excellent.

I guess I picked a good weekend to be in Rochester. I'll be picking this up tonight.

The only problem is I'll be at Kinney Creek for awhile tomorrow. I'm actually kind of looking forward to it in a perversely curious sort of way. Winter makes the summer that much better, right?

Why on God's green earth would you torture yourself like that? Did you lose a bet?

It's a social obligation; I'll leave it at that. Not really beer related.

I'll make sure I'm pretty buzzed before I get there. If I wreck my palate on some good IPAs throughout the day, I'll survive.

Had both Kushy and Beer J today. Excellent NE IPAs.

Currently at Kinney. It's a lot better than I remember, but it's still 4th place in Roch by a mile. They might be nearing mediocrity.

Forager's Decent beats Kushy. By a strong margin.

Drove out to lupulin in yesterday, and whether or not hooey is exactly a NE IPA idk, but it's damn good. So is blissful ignorance. I have had trillium, treehouse and the likes. While it's hard to tell just how much better the others might be, wo doing side by sides, I certainly don't have any craving for them while drinking a growler of this right now.

I like Lupulin's beers. They're doing a very nice job and seem to be getting better and better. But in my opinion, they're yet to release anything that's close to Treehouse, Trillium, or Alchemist. In fact, last night, I had a blissful ignorance immediately before an Alter Ego. The Blissful Ignorance was a good beer and I liked it. But again, not close to Treehouse.

As I sit here polishing offf a growler of blissful ignorance, I by no means think this one is a NE style iipa, but it is damn good. Kind of a nice grapefruit forward abrasive that I seem to miss. Hooey on the other hand, I thought was more comparable.

Either way I'd happily settle up to a glass of most everything I tried in my flight from them. I was very impressed.

Insight east is pretty good if anyone is looking for a new NEIPA, not quite on the level of the heavy-hitters but real good for the MN style.

Also, dreamyard is going to be released in 4 pack cans starting on the 9th, looking forward to that.

Dreamyard has really been dialed in. Newest batch is very good. Excited for cans.

I'm thinkin a fair portion of the people commenting here don't quite understand what a New England IPA is.

Agree. It's evolving into a "what good IPA's are being made in Minnesota" thread.

IMO, a NE IPA is one that has a very hazy appearance with a soft, pillowy mouthfeel and a juicy consistency.

Any hoppy beer that has those visual and textural appearances qualifies to me. Maybe I'm off.
