Oh, I have definitely seen my fair share of 3 month old Sue/Nugget, especially last year. I even saw one place that still had bottles! It had a sticker on it that said "Made in Iowa!" to get your attention. This was in like June last year.

At the end of the day it is Surly's product that was purchased. Many beer companies have pulled out of stores or switched distributors when their product wasn't being properly sold. IF they care about their beer they should be monitoring the life cycle of their product since the consumer ultimately judges whether to stick with the brand on the finished product they consumed.

Given the reports of how GI forces retailers to purchase a ton of stuff they don't need in order to get the stuff they do, I'm giving the benefit of the doubt to the retailer. The retailer is the one who got stuck with it, not their fault.

Open Bottle just posted they got Tsunami cans dated 1/30. Unacceptable this needs to get fixed.

All jokes aside, it's going to be a tough sell going forward, I think (in general, not just related to TG). With HA stepping up their canning game and all these other local breweries pumping out new fresh IPAs (a lot of which are that SO HOT RIGHT NOW hazy style), it's a hard sell to choose a 5 week old 4-pack over something bottled yesterday. I'm sure TG's issues will be solved when Decorah starts canning, but in general I think more and more places around here are going to feel the pressure to sell fresh.

I don't think they will. They have to put a TG satellite brew pub in Chicago to compete with freshness.

I don't mean compete literally within days. Just get us beer within a week or two (like what @Nbrock24 posted above). It's not that tough.

Find me 2 week old Michigan beer. Let alone Florida beer.

I'm not asking for FL beer, I'm asking for the Iowa shit (although the post 2 above mine seems to imply that even the Florida stuff can get here quickly). No idea how the Michigan guys distribute admittedly, since it's rare that I buy anything from Michigan.

Well for now, your TG comes from FL. So it's not gonna be 2 weeks old.

Yeah it is. We were talking about ancient beer and figured you wouldn't want 5 month old bombers of mediocre IPA :stuck_out_tongue:

I don't love LS, but most of TG's bombers are not what I'd consider mediocre beer.

Just the last few batches of their PS cans.

Looks like Capone's got Golden Nugget. But you know it's probably like NINETEEN DAYS OLD. So don't bother.

A Nugget SMaSH beer in Chicago might be the most I'll-thought out distro plan I've seen.

We get it, you clearly don't value freshness. Someone has to drink that 2 month old All Day that just got delivered this week. Apparently that's your demographic
