It might be too difficult to map out all the possible combinations that way. If so, perhaps make Pale and Crystal definites and choose between Amber, Sugar, Munich or none of the above.

Generic Two Row, Pale Ale Malt and/or Pilsner are in. The next poll will determine which one(s).

Carapils and/or Other Crystal Malt(s) are in. The numbers show that a majority of respondents wanted this in combination with Generic Two Row, Pale Ale Malt and/or Pilsner, so there's no point in polling Crystal malts further except to determine which specific ones are in.

Sugar, Sugar Products, and/or Honey are potentially in. TBD.

Amber/Brown and Vienna/Munich were close, but no cigar. If there's enough clamoring for them, there could be a buyers' remorse poll after the others are sorted.

Addendum: It was correctly pointed out to me vial beermail that according to the stated rules, 3 choices beyond the top pick should have advanced for further consideration.

Therefore, Munich and/or Vienna are re-classified as possibly in, TBD. Amber/Brown remains on the outside looking in, and would need a groundswell of chatter to compel a buyers' remorse vote.

How about a 2 out of 3 poll between them?

What percent would you use in an ESB? I've only used it for porters.

I've used Amber malt at the rate of 2% to 4% in ESBs that I have brewed. Definitely don't want to over do it with this malt. Amber and Brown are very similar in character, with Brown being a bit more intense.

There's quite a difference between the different british ambers too, crisp for example is biscuity, simpsons is buiscuity with a bit of toast, fawcetts is much closer to brown and has coffee notes
