First time, long time. Anyway, not new the craft beer world but new to the forums so here goes. I'm surprised churchills finest hour release wasn't discussed here at all... Equally surprised that it didn't immediately sell out. Missed it last year but scored this time around. Is this fairly normal? What'd you think about it?
$100 if you wanted more than a 1 day pick up window. It's a grand libation but that price is utterly absurd.
Yeah that is absolutely absurd. But I don't hold it against Churchills for taking advantage of people if they're willing to be that foolish. No thanks.
If I'm gonna pay the Tomme Tax on a BA stout brewed by Port/Lost Abbey, I'd just stick to Older Viscosity.
I can go to Churchills' and order it for onsite consumption for $45 and split it with 4 friends while eating some pretty good food. That is enough for me. What I do like is that Ian holds back quite a few bottles to sell for onsite. So it is nice to do a 4-6yr vert with a small group for fun and not break the bank too much. Usually it is a $5 increase per year on the bottle.
True, I guess it really just depends on your personal circumstances. I don't have very many craft beer friends who are willing to travel to SD so it's usually just the wife and I. Not that I mind polishing off an entire bottle to myself but I'm sure the wife doesn't appreciate it haha
Considering no one has yet to advise you of this matter: it opened up at 4pm the day prior as I'm sure you were aware. Was originally 55$ for 1 bottle, they dropped the price to 50 (they were being nice from what they state to offset the bpt fees...) they did Not sell out; No onsite bottle purchase, at that time though you may be able to purchase now considering it was a bit of a lost cause. Essentially the bottle sales ended, that's all.
They increased the price to take advantage of the hype. People would camp out all night to buy bottles.
In other words, a dick move but makes sense; I don't blame them for that nor do I agree. They should have stuck with a raffle system instead to match the so called hype. that's a pretty big mark up.
