I have only had one Tree House beer so far - Eureka. I thought that beer was very good but not 'head and shoulders' over Tired Hands beers.

For some reason Tree House gets 'mad love' from the BA community and from a Top 250 ratings perspective the same can not be said for Tired Hands.

    Cheers!

Didn't they have many beers rated highly then the formula was tweaked?

Tired Hands takes more risks with variety/improvisation; someone having a Tired Hands brew for the first time may not be divulging into their strongest offering(s)

Tree House lacks variety; someone having a Tree House brew for the first time will rarely be disappointed

Tree House and Tired Hands should not ever be in the same conversation.

Then I guess we shouldn't have a conversation about breweries whose names have the initials T and H.

I doubt the brewing team at Tree House would agree with that statement...

Tree House has 82 Current Beers listed. 16 of them have more than 500 reviews. 5 of them with over 1,000 reviews.

Tired Hands has 357 Current Beers listed. 1 (HopHands) has more than 500 reviews.

Tired Hands just makes too many labels, not enough of that label and not enough people review their beer.

I think I have mentioned this before but I would take any of the standard Tree House and Trillium offerings over any Tired Hands offerings but I like that Tired Hands does some off the wall things. Green is probably my favorite IPA of all time and Congress Street not far behind but I like that I get something pretty different most weeks at Tired Hands. Do I wish they would take one of their staples other than HopHands and brew it more often hell yes but oh well.

As far as pricing and lines are concerned I think it was a matter of timing and communication. Tree House went from doing pretty good business to word of mouth putting them where they are now and because they are in the middle of nowhere you can tell there is like this small town pride and it becomes a "fun" pilgrimmage. They communicate well (imo) to their consumers and so expectations are not ridiculous. At this point people know what they are getting, it's all the more power to them that despite the fact that they know hey I am getting 2 cans of a beer maybe after ridiculous lines that every week they still sell out of everything. Also they are constantly on Twitter and generally seem to be concerned about making sure people aren't wasting their time driving out to the boonies for nothing.

Meanwhile Tired Hands posts pictures of things without any info (some people think it's fun to be teased but every other post is something hype driven) and don't update on lines etc. which leads to people scrambling for info on Instagram. I have made a couple of anxious 15 minute drives to the brewery because I have no idea what to expect when I get there and I've been on both sides of that outcome multiple times. Also even though you could probably do a price comparison when Trillium was selling bottles, or other breweries selling crowlers Tired Hands was one of the first if not the first to break the $20/ 4 pack barrier (and move past it).

    Exactly this.

I think Tree House and Tired Hands are comparable quality-wise. Tree House's best beers are probably slightly better than Tired Hands' best beers, but there's something to be said for the diversity of Tired Hands. I mean, not even considering all the draft releases, we get something brand new in a can almost every week. Seems with Tree House other than the Curiosity series for the most part they just rotate through their staples and every once in a while sprinkle in the heavy hitters.

Yup, treating your customers 'right' will indeed pay dividends. This is true for any business.

Also agree. If Tired Hands canned Extra Extra Knuckle and Punge almost weekly like Treehouse does with Julius and Green I have to think those would be more well reviewed and easily be top 250 beers. Even Hop Hands and Alien Church only make an appearance about once a month in cans so it's just too much diversity that is keeping some of their beers out of the top spots.

I know that one of the BA bros went to Tired Hands and did not like their beers at all and said something along the line of "milkshake beers are unnaccetable!" - calling out the cloudy style, the milkshake series didn't exist yet. I always thought these reviews were part of the reason they went ahead and made an actual milkshake series to begin with.

yes it's been noted before that the bro's shat on some TH beers and TH in retort kind of created the "milkshake" series with omnipollo because of such

If that wasn't the reason behind the milkshake series of beers, than it is a really strange coincidence. It was only a few weeks after that review that the first milkshake was released.

Good article reacting to the "milkshake" review.

Definitely was made in reaction to the review
