Agreed. I tend to have a 3 floyds bias and enjoy most things that they do. I personally enjoy the beer.. not my favorite by any means but I like it. Dark Lord is great in the sense that you can have fun with the beer and it's exciting every year with variants. You can also play around with aging different vintages since the beer isn't so good that it will drive you nuts to cellar it.

I attend Dark Lord mainly for guest drafts and variants. I do like regular Dark Lord though

I traded my Trump and Pump.. would have been great for election night

I like regular DL. Can't drink a lot of it but I do enjoy it. It's not my favorite Stout but it's unique.

It's both for me. Some years DL have been sweeter than others. If it comes out too sweet any given year I'll cellar it a while and the sweetness always subdues.
The bottle share is amazing and is probably my favorite part of DLD. Getting to share rare beers with others and in return getting to try rare beers I'd most likely never even see is great.
I look at the Variant as a bonus. For a long time it was never a guarantee. Now that it is that makes it all the better.

You serious? I was at FFF on Friday night for some food and drinks and I thought the Floy Division was really solid! Not mind blowing but far far far from a bad beer.

Given that he said he walked out with a full allocation of DL and BVDL, I wouldn't take him seriously.

Hahaha wait I feel like an idiot I didn't even read that far into it. I saw the Floy Division comment and popped off.

I enjoy it, but I think its pretty inconsistent. 2013 fresh tasted great, but a few years on it turned it into soy sauce. 2014 tasted great with some age, but didn't taste good fresh. 2015 was better fresh than after a year, it dropped quick.

Its extremely sweet, and best for sharing. Drinking a whole bottle yourself is like drinking a bottle of maple syrup.

Strange as I thought 2013 tasted like green apple fresh (on tap at DLD 2013). But pretty good with 2 years on it. 2014 was not bad fresh and even better last year (but much better than 2012 or 2013 fresh)

2016 fresh was the best fresh in many years (since 2011 probably). 2011 was good with 1-3 years on it but not good last year.

I actually opened a 2011 bottle last year and thought it was excellent. The sweetness was toned down a lot and it wasn't a giant bottle of soy sauce yet, very well balanced. It seemed like the bottle was right in the sweet spot in regards to when I opened it.

I'm not the biggest fan of the beer, but Dark Lord Day is easily my favorite beer related event of the year.

Its an extremely polarizing beer. I really liked 2015 fresh, it had a big coffee flavor to it, I felt. Either way, I attend DLD for the share, the bands, and the friends. Last year, getting a BVDL was nice (as I've never won a damn golden ticket in the years previous), but this year I was a bit disappointed in the included variant in the cost. $180 is a lot of damn money.

Still goin' though. 3F's still getting all of my money.

Not a DLD noob.. Been going since 2008..

But i do have a question i would like to ask someone it's pertaining
    1. to pub tickets
    2. and what happened last year once you got into the gates and what happened when you walk into the brewery.

I don't want to post the question here as to not give anyone ideas...

So if someone who is knowledgeable about the 2 things above and would be willing to BM Me so i could ask them in private.. That would be awesome.

Can't wait to share beers with everyone.

2017 is the year the joke is on us and they admit that DL is actually a beer concentrate and you are supposed to add 1 part water to 1 part DL before drinking....

Also included $40 of food/drink vouchers and another regular DL if I remember correctly.

I am hopeful that I get tickets again this year. Thoroughly enjoyed a crappy weather DLD last year and am hopeful the extra two weeks makes a difference.

I liked the vouchers, though I did not use them all.

Not sure I am looking forward to carrying a wad of cash around to pay for food and taps, after a morning of bottle shares.

Water dissolvable vouchers yes, extra DL no. Was 4 reg 1 variant last year too. No included vouchers now is only change.
