NC's Best Drinking IPAs/ DIPAs

This batch of LS just doesn't do it for me. Though I had it on tap and not at the brewery, to me, it seems too green (which may fade with a bit of time) and I detected a bit of clove in the taste. I wonder if they used a different yeast strain for this batch?

Outta this galaxy is back on tap at Trophy (Morgan St. -didn't confirm on Trophy Maywood) but damn is that a great representation of a Galaxy NEIPA. Wish they would can it.

 

I don't know about this one in particular, but a lot of times they have beers on at the Morgan St Location that they don't have at Maywood, especially IPA's.

 

That sucks. I'd much rather go to Maywood :/

 

I thought the same thing. The original B1 is still my favorite, and this one is definitely better than B2 and B3, but there's something off on the finish for me. Almost a little astringent. Reminded me a bit of the finish on Never & Again, although nowhere near as painful on the throat.

 

How's this batch of Gang of Blades? Should be scooping up some cans tomorrow.

 

I've not seen a new batch of Gang of Blades, but I hope it hits the Triangle. Loved the last one.

Had the Trophy galaxy one last night, definitely really good. Not sure I could say whether I liked it more than Long Stride or not, they're pretty different for being such similar styles and hops.

 

I'm not sure if this new batch of galaxy is similar to the first batch, but I felt the main difference between that beer specifically and I suppose most Trophy beers and Bond Brothers (consistency aside) I've had is thickness and mouthfeel. Trophy beers seem to always be watered down to some extent compared to BB.

 

It's different! Not hazy at all. One of the bartenders at Burial told me they used a different yeast in this batch. Personally, I preferred the last one.

 

Drank one myself tonight and have the exact same thoughts. Glad I only picked up one 4pk instead of two this time around.

In my opinion, the most recent batches of Hawkbill, Blades, and Surf Wax have all fallen short to their previous batches. Hopefully that's just me though.

 

Is there a consensus on Brewery Bhavana's beers that hit the triangle on draft a week or so ago? Anything to get excited over?

 

I saw Ponysaurus had two of their beers on tap earlier this week. Not sure if they still are. The coffee saison was great and the DIPA.

I just checked DigitalPour and Ridgewood has their DIPA on tap!

 

So far, I am not as high on the Burial IPAs as some of the other NC breweries (WW, Noda, Lynwood, etc.). Maybe it is just a style preference. I would like to try Gang of Blades, though, haven't had that one yet.

 

Had the Trophy galaxy one again yesterday, I think that's the top of the pile of recent ones I've had.
