DDC for 13.99 @ da binny's? No brainer to me. Had to pick up another 4 pk. A few of the prior DDC releases I was getting a slight bubble gum flavor which was off-putting to me. This release has none of that and is spot on imo. Cheers HA, long live your canning line.

Any inside info on the Instagram post yesterday about the heavy gem project?

Not sure... tired hands posted the exact same thing.

Pretty sure this is their collaborative barrel aged wild ale program.

This appears correct per Instagram posts from Half Acre, Tired Hands, and the Heavy Gem account this afternoon.

We might finally get some better (to me) IPAs from Half Acre! Love the use of Lupulin powder and this BA program is going to be fantastic if they're anything like the offerings from Tired Hands.

I can't tell if it's a collab or if it's a separate company that contract brewed at these locations (like evil twin)

Either way sounds good and interesting

My understanding is it's a joint project between the two breweries. I believe they've been very good friends for a long time.

yea, i'm pretty excited to see if this Heavy Gem (Half Acre / Tired Hands collab ??) DIPA is gonna be NE Style. Two of my favorite breweries coming together, sounds great to me. Also, it sort of kind of allows Half Acre to cross over into the NE IPA trend without doing it under the Half Acre umbrella but rather as something new and separate.....

What doesn't sound great to me is the Equinox hops. Why ohh why?!! My least favorite hop and not one beer have I liked with them used.

Hmmm... making the effort to go and get a beer that is new and no information prior to the release other than the hops in it.... not sure I want to waste my time with a beer that may or may not be great. Its almost like a raffle... you might win or lose, no guarantees.

You're not probably right but the 2 breweries backing it make it interesting at the least

Plus, I'm assuming we can order it on tap before buying...unless there is something different about this release.

Well, it's not a Half Acre beer so I'm not positive they'll have it on at the taproom. They might, but there's no guarantee. This is essentially a new brewery.

Yeah, I wondered about that as well. It'll be interesting to see - I don't think anything was mentioned about being available on tap, so that may have been a big leap of faith by me. Regardless, I will probably swing by on Friday to check it out - if it's on tap, I'll probably have lunch and order each new beer. If not, I'll probably buy some of each as they both sound interesting.

Why oh why does it have to be on the 17th. The people backing it are steller so i cant imagine its not good.

Yea, I'm bummed it's on a Friday, won't be able to make it, and after work I already have something I need to do.
I hope some hold over until Saturday.

Release should have been at noon on the 18th to force people into a dilemma.
