    Hello everyone,

A colleague of mine is hosting a get together for their water ski club as asked me for any beer recommendations they might enjoy.

I would normally spit out a few beers and breweries but it being March and in NYC, the transition from winter porter/stout to lighter spring beers has me with mix feelings.

I was heading in the direction of an American ale, or even a scotch ale but it might be too much for them. Any and all recommendations are greatly appreciated!

Generally I have found that when non-beer-people ask me for beer recommendations, they are happiest with a simple, high-quality pilsner or pale ale, because in their mind, that's what craft beer is (a higher-quality version of what they know beer to be).

So true! I was also thinking that, a light pilsner or even an amber for those daring enough to try it lol. Thanks for the feedback.

Blue Point Toasted Lager (water theme too), Anchor Steam to me are two mass market beers that fit the bill; Lagunitas has some very nice IPAs that you can find and are affordable, Firestone Walker makes great Pils and solid IPAs ( great brewery but accessible). For a good local small brewery that you can often get at Whole foods in NYC, etc., Threes pilsners are a bit pricier but most beer drinkers would not find them too crazy...or not as crazy as waterskiing in March at least

Ha! Great recommendations, definitely will recommend the Firestone as I've seen their stuff throughout the city and pretty accessible. I actually go to the bar/ramen place in Whole foods on Columbus Circle every now and then and see there stuff there.

Blue point is a good one as well, even if it's just for the water Theme.

    Thanks again for the reply!
