Bottle Logic Brewing Thread - Winter 2016/2017

Had both Ground State and Reaction State on draft at BL last night. Not sure why some people have been disappointed; these are incredible beers. Made me extra bummed that I didn't score bottles.

 

People don't want ruination because there are 8,000 great beers out there now. 5 years ago ruination was like finding Beachwood. This is a great thing for consumers, but I can understand why shop owners don't like it. Also, I imagine that breweries selling their special releases through their tap rooms also hurts shop owners. I imagine in the coming years it is just going to get more difficult and companies like total wine and bevmo will get more buying power. If I was a shop owner I would consider partnering with other shops to increase their buying power,

 

I was just trying to convey that some shops will do this yet, take advantage of it. Thus, I understand his point of view & his acknowledgement for not wanting to do what he did unlike other locations that think otherwise.

 

Do distribution regulations allow this? I'm not very familiar with them.

For example, in WA state, there seems to be a regulation that does not allow Stone to reclaim beer on the shelf that is beyond its expiration date.

 

I am not a lawyer, nor do I know the law. But isn't this essentially what all large retailers do? Costco get their stuff shipped to one warehouse and then it goes from there. Couldn't the small bottle shops do this on a smaller level? Don't bottle shops ship send product to their other stores (i'm thinking K&L)?
For the record, I am not saying I want this, but it may be a way for smaller shops to be more competitive when competing against the big guys. That way all the good guys keep getting bottle logic beer.

 

Most bottle shops I got to are one-offs (as far as I'm aware) - 3ten, Mr Ks, Select, Number 1 liquor.

I'm guessing chain stores probably have some more options especially since they are probably buying in larger bulk.

Feel like this would've been explored already if it were all legal and above board, etc.
