i wish I had listened. I picked up a four pack of Gang of Blades today. The fact that it's not hazy doesnt bother me. But all those nice tropical notes are totally gone. It just tastes like an IPA now. Bummed.

I'd have to agree that the most recent batches don't have quite the same pop as those of a few months ago. I wonder how much that had to do with the fact that the Other Half guys were there around the time the best batches came out?

Still, they're among the best in the state when it comes to IPAs/DIPAs in cans. Not loving the steady price hikes in combination with the slight quality degradation though...

Dude I'm a burial homer but I'm not sure the beer I had tonight was even an IPA! Super weird.

Yes, they are now brewing it at the NC location. Although, now I guess you could say CC is now brewing it for OB?

Bummer about GOB. I mentioned a few pages back that I thought the newest batch of Hawkbill wasn't as good as the previous, but a few others disagreed so I was hoping it was just me. Hopefully this new batch of Surf Wax they just announced wont be noticeably different.

Yeah I wouldnt say the new GOB is awful but I do wish I had saved a few bucks and got Cloud Surfer.

Yeah I'll still probably pick up a 4-pack as I'm sure it's still solid. It's tough when you raise the bar with some great hoppy beers as people start to expect that every time and it's not easy to nail it with every batch.

^^^Becoming a great brewery requires that your QC is on point - until you nail the QC you will not cross the bridge to being great.

Creating a great beer/IPA takes talent but being able to scale and repeat that creation takes greatness!! Sorry for the soap box but just feel strongly about this ongoing issue : )

Oh I definitely agree. That's why I hold breweries like Trillium, Treehouse, etc. in such high regard. Not because they can make hoppy beers that are necessarily better than anyone else's, but because they can do it time and again and in ever increasing quantities.

Amen to that. I remember when Trillium brought their Canton brewery online (a quantum leap in terms of volume over their Fort Point operation - or as they appropriately named one of their beers "Scaled Way Up") the learning curve was virtually nonexistent. I'm really curious to see if Heist out of Charlotte can pull that type of feat off. Time will tell.

Definitely wasn't crazy about the new GOB. Was too sweet for me, big difference from the previous version. Really liked Winnower though.

Trophy Outta This Galaxy is tasting incredible right now. I hope they can continue brewing IPA's of this caliber.

I tried GoB yesterday and it was my favorite of the Burial beers so far, so that just makes me wonder how much I would have liked the last batch, since everyone is saying the current batch is a step down.

It really is a banger. Having one now and I think it's even better than when I had it a few days ago.
