But you weren't prepaying for a variant then. You could walk away with $50 bucks. No two vintage bottles are worth most variants (I know there are some outliers where that may not stand)

Sorry if I'm dumb, but where are people seeing that variants aren't included? The DLD webpage still shows it as such, both on the front page and the FAQ page.

EDIT: never mind, I see the etix site now.

Is it weird they haven't updated the FAQ on the DLD site? Or not surprising?

WHAT IS THE COST OF THE BARREL-AGED VARIANTS?

Dark Lord Variants are included in the ticket price.

    -------

WHAT DARK LORD VARIANTS WILL BE AVAILABLE? HOW WILL I GET TO CHOOSE MY VARIANT?

Variants will be released closer to the event. Bottles will be available on a first come first served basis. Though you may not receive your #1 choice, there will be enough variants for everyone.

I'm told via the info e-mail that the website is being updated to reflect the change. eTix is correct.

Not all 'bitching' is equal. I know it's cool to post jokes about DLD complaints, but adding this verbage the day before tickets go on sale is a completely reasonable worry for people.

It's pretty clear they are selling more tickets than variants produced by this statement..

A variant will not be guaranteed. It will be a variant or 2 vintage bottles of Dark Lord beer.

this maybe, but then they should sell less tickets....or move to a non-BA ticket option that is cheaper (Group E - costs $100, included 4 reg bottles)

So there are 2 months until the fest. How hard is it to knock on the door of a local distillery and beg for a couple former use spirit barrels to close the gap? I'd rather have some hastily made variant than a vintage beer I've had 4 of....and shouldn't they have their own barrels by now? The distilling thing has been sitting around for 3 years...

Conversely I'd like to reserve the right to trade in two of my vintage Dark Lords for a variant!

This is why you don't let a guy with Axeman in his name around your barrel program....

This is altogether odd considering in the past they have sold General Admission tickets. If they want people to enter the fest without selling them beer, they should sell more GA.

However, this goes against my own personal gripe that I wish there were fewer people, but I digress...

Someone in the DLD group on Facebook just posted a screenshot of him asking FFF about this. FFF replied that everyone will get a variant.

Better weather- less tents = more space= more people= more tickets= more profit= less variants=more riots...

Oh lordy lordy. So you get 1 BA Dark Lord or 2 vintage Dark Lords. Seems....pretty clear. Seems they would be worth about the same amount. Now on the secondary market....no way but from a 1st sale perspective I'd be happy either way. I drink my beer.

What a cluster fuck...I get that some people would be happy with two vintage bottles of DL. But this information being out less than 12 hours from when tickets going on sale. Since then its always been noted that a variant is guaranteed in your allotment. If this is the direction their going with for future DLD's they need to create a pricing scale for those in later groups. I wouldn't be too happy paying $180 for 6 regular DL's, not matter what year vintage they are.
