2 thoughts to add to the mix...
What if 3 Floyd's had the foresight to start holding back variants and vintages just in case they lost a batch to infection. Is something better then less tickets.

If I was group E and it came down to a variant brewed with mushrooms and lemonade or something equally as bad and they offered 2 vintages instead, I might take that. Best case scenario you leave with a 3 year vertical.

They only offered vintage variants last year. They must have had extra in 2015.
It's doubtful they had any significant leftovers from 2016 though. The 2 rumors floating around were that they oversold the event and that an employee lost/broke a pallet.

Is a batch went bad, why not rebrand it as Sour Dark Lord?

Maybe they're just preparing in case something does go bad and they're not promising something in the ticket price they ultimately can't deliver on(I'm sure that's been covered here already). In my case if I were group D or E and my choices were.

    1) some bullshit variant or
    2) 1 each of '13 and '14 DL

I'd go with 2 because that completes a 5 year vertical for me. But who knows, it's not like it's not gonna sell out. Tickets will still be gone in no time.

This has to have happened by this point, at least with some of the barreled batches--unless they're pasteurizing them...

If it has happened before, it leaves me to wonder if DL is just a terrible base for a sour since as far as I know we haven't seen a black sour at 15% ABV by them.

Accidental souring is rarely pleasant. That's just not really how it works.

As a guy that tends to get talked out of all his DL for trades, getting a head start like that might make me actually save some.

Typically I fire up a couple of lap tops and my phone at home using the wi-fi. It's never worked and thankfully my friend has always got through at his house (wi-fi as well). I'm switching it up this year and hitting up my office at work. I have two computers hardwired to high speed internet that I can try to get tickets on.
If you had the choice/option to do this would you? Does the high speed internet make a difference? Just curious as to what you guys think.

I tried one year at work with a similar connection that you described and got shut out. I think last year was the first year for etix and I just used my home computer only and got tickets relatively easily. I honestly think it's just a total crapshoot.....I have to work today, so I'm using my work computer to give it a shot today.

I have a dumb question. If my brother in law and myself buy tix in two different groups respectively, can we be each other's guest?? It would be double dipping but trying to increase our chances of getting tix and then using them since we couldn't sell the extras outright.

I know it's still pretty early, but just wanted to say good luck to everyone. Can't wait for the aftermath on this thread.

One of my favorite parts is when the guys that talked about not going because FFF ruined everything with their greed.... post what group they are in.

    According to the rules, no.

Do they have a very solid way of making sure that doesn't happen? Also probably no.

I was thinking if I was primary round 1 and then he was primary round 2 then that'd be a loophole. I'm not necessarily trying to double dip, just trying to protect ourselves if we wound up with two sets. (Not overly optimistic we'll both get tix.)

Good luck to everyone. May no one get stuck on the captcha from hell like last year.

And remember, if you're patient, sometimes you can get lucky. I got two Group A tickets last year about 45 minutes after the sales started. At that point I'd already bought B, but whatever. It can happen!

Thanks and a hearty good luck from myself to you all as well, as I package up 3 boxes of beer to pass the time until liftoff.

you could always ask someone from this thread to go with you. I'm sure plenty of us won't get tickets and would more than pay our way!
