I thoroughly enjoyed that beer. On topic - I enjoy the case limit even though the only beer I have actually utilized it on was Blowin Up The Spot (best release ever even though I don't love IIIPAs). Rules are always the same - X number of beers, 1 case. If you were to go at noon, for every release - sometimes, it works out so that the hype beer sells out quick but the others stick around. I like that. Sometimes, all of the beers stick around. I like that. And occasionally, you miss out entirely. That stinks. Overall, the system works and it is consistent every week. No asking questions about limits at the POS constantly. 1 case PP.

I don't really mind the one case limit. I just never understand seeing 3-4 bros coming out of the garage and put all their cases into one car.

As an extreme example- let's say OH set the limit at 1 can. Sure, about 4000 customers would have the opportunity to try the beer.

However, are 4000 people going to jump in their cars Saturday morning for 1 can of beer? Would anyone? Does OH want to deal with 4000 transactions?

Apparently OH feels 1 case is the sweet spot. I say good on em.....

I agree, I case limit is fine. I also agree with those who say it might be nice lowering it to half a case with smaller yields or adjusting if lines are super long. Overall it's their call. I just think it's funny guys on here think it's "manning up" or a prideful matter of "putting in the work" to get up early to stand in a line. The price is the same whether you wait in line or not. I will keep advocating for brewery policies that result in less hype and smaller or no lines.

Yeah relax people, I said I didn't think it was a good move to not adjust because there were thousands of less beers this time. My simple opinion. I've never bought a case nor will I, not like I'm pissed I couldn't score $200 worth of beer. I simply enjoy trying new stuff with a delicious can watching a game at home. I also have a can collection to put in my man cave when I graduate, hence I like having the can too.

And not all of us are fortunate enough to be able to drive a car there , or have Saturday mornings off. I happen to work and take grad classes, and can't get there at 9am, but I usually make out at OH plenty fine 9/10 times, and I've never said a bad thing about them.

No need to hop all over me and one other guy about it. I hope someone responds to my thread in the other forum and that's that.

Yeah, I even I said I didn't go today. I wasn't saying I was mad that I didn't get beer. I already have beer. I was just saying that I would have thought that they would have lowered limits if they had a lower case count. And yes I said it was "kinda" messed up, it's really not messed up. I get more annoyed at bros who buy up cases every week. Simply because why would you need that much beer? I understand trades but jesus christ.

This was also discussed in the Kane thread. People saw guys leaving Kane with 5 cases each and some getting back on line to get even more. And of course selling at huge markups online. Just weird and thoughtless behavior.

"Manning up" made me laugh...Yeah I always thought it was funny that standing in line became so "noble". Like an Olympians training equating to a gold medal.

Exactly. It's not my lack of beer, or the lack of me getting cases. You get people walking away with multiple multiple cases (as expected ANYWHERE) and on a big batch there's enough where maybe it doesn't matter. I don't "blame" OH as they know it'll sell quick, and their job is to make beer and sell. It just puts the average Joe who works or has a screaming kid at home, or someone who simply wants one can, at a huge huge huge disadvantage.

Not cool to be pounced on like that BA members, this isn't a competition. Let's remember that. The point of this forum is for opinions and to help one another expand their beer tasting all over the country. I've met some awesome people on here and with IP trades. No need to sit back with your case saying HAHA tough titties OH doesn't owe you shit, get up at 7am chump. Harsh.

You don't deserve to blow all your money on a beverage unless you wait for hours in the winter cold, while sharing other beverages that you waited in a previous line to acquire or paid (at least) double the price to have it shipped to you. Come on man!

Me too. I think DDH DMD. Possibly my favorite OH acronym and beer.

Sad to say I haven't had DDH DMD yet. Somehow always had to miss those releases. Just finished a DDH Mylar from last week. I'm gonna let the rest of those cans sit another week. Enjoying a DDH Broccoli now, I hope they can the regular version again soon.

OK, so I understand these arguments if you just were introduced to these Other Half within the past 6 months. Take this as a "I've been listening to that band before you"-post but to complain about missing out on this release in the grand scheme of Other Half and the NYC beer scene is ridiculous.

Other Half as a business is doing it's best to make you and everyone on here happy and over the past couple of years they've gone from having cans irregularly, to every 2 weeks, to weekly. So this isn't a "smaller batch" this is an enormous batch compared to the zero case batches they were doing a year ago on off weeks. And as Kanger said, "they will brew this batch again" (see: Nummy Nug Nug). If this was also a year ago, you could not find a comparable beer readily available. Now you can find at least 5 that have come out in a 10 mile radius just this weekend. Throw in the Kane/Aslin combo last week and the amount of fresh IPA's all of a similar NE hazy style in a 100 mile radius is obscene.

I could see people complaining about batch size if this was a Double Mosaic Dream (200 cases)with Boogie Board Stuntz (200 cases) and West Coast IPA (175 cases) release when they were doing releases every 2 weeks but to complain about it when DDH Mylar bag "sat on the OH shelves" is just being a little too fussy.

While I understand your point very much so, I think you are missing mine. How many of us miss out on Grimm because they sell out so quick putting a "whopping" 48 cans in a store. I get it.

If you read each one of my posts, I stated I've never had a problem at OH when I actually do make it there, ever. It's just unfortunate that wanting such a minimal one can to give something a try turns near impossible when you have case chasers with a group of 4 that ACTUALLY make a diff in a release like this. And it shuts out anyone that isn't fortunate enough to have Saturday mornings off, because I'm an average Joe who works and goes to school, such is life.

And instead of having a friendly environment, people sitting there on their cases have some nerve to be chirping at me and someone else.

I guess a smaller release made it a little more "cut throat" I should say. Which is unfortunate because I joined this website for the polar opposite.

Yeah I get it but like it's never been better to be an Other Half beer drinker and we gotta keep that in perspective. If you want one can- they had growlers available right after they sold out. Pick up a couple 32oz and be thankful that they greatly reduced the price of those about 6 months ago. It used to be close to 2x the price for growlers as to cans until they heard customer complaints. Then when you're done grabbing the new stuff from OH head to Interboro and grab a world class DIPA in Mad Fat Unicorn. Then head to LIC for some great IPA's. Go to Finback and pick up some collabs with breweries that never come around here. It's lazy to complain considering how drastically the scene has changed in the past 12 months.

I'm not new to OH. I never have a problem with getting their beers. I just thought maybe they would lower the limits if a lot of people came. And I'm saying this again, I didn't MISS this release. I skipped it because I already have enough beer. I was more or less commenting about hearing they sold out by 11 or so. And I do take back my comment about it being messed up that they didn't lower limits. All I'm really saying is I don't understand why people buy cases, but it's not my place to understand. Buy what you want to buy.

It's beer, enjoy it how you will. Cheers!
