No worries. They can't all be the greatest. Just happy to have the opportunity to try something different.

I might be wrong, but I never recall the maple syrup being mentioned as I have passed it over several times before. Doesn't seem like something I would do:grinning:

    Pours a dark black color.
Great nose coconut and bourbon and some roasted malts.
The taste is coconut and bourbon and smooth all the way through.
    The mouthfeel is smooth.
This is to me great done BBA coconut stout. Don't need to pull any punches here. it starts out great and finishes the same way.

Founders Centennial IPA on this new beer Sunday. Just recently got founders in my area of Idaho. Pretty damn good! Not sure if this is just an area situation or what. When I went to a local bottle shop I grabbed a mix 12 of a bunch of different stuff. When checking out I noticed one of the Founders beers was $9:50 for a 12oz. Bottle!!!! Sorry I don't remember the name but I cast it aside and grabbed something more reasonable. $60 for a 12oz. 6 pack??? Good FREAKIN hell, not this guy! Does this sound wayyyyy out of line? Maybe it's "normal" for a specialty beer? Thoughts?[IMG]

New NOT New England-Style DIPA Sunday

My last new beer today, Blue Box...
Double IPA (10.5% abv) from Moustache Brewing out in Riverhead - recommended by @beerloserLI... (I think...?) Aromas of caramel and pine. Tastes resinous, tacky, and piney... Sweetness cut off by the shellac of pine that quickly coats the tongue. Has a round feel, medium-bodied, with a little bit of polish and a little bit of a sticky chew. I'm diggin' it...

Alright, I'm out. Might pop open something else before bed, but that'd be over in WBAYDN, so I'll see you cool cats later...

    Cheers...

They are the local, big boys near me. In fact, I spent St. Patty's there this year, they are that local. As such, I've always felt I'm a little biased towards them. With what I'm hearing of this pilsner, I'm thinking I need to just dive in. I can't name a terrible beer I've had from Boulevard. My only disappointment has been that they only did one beer in my craft beer drinking history with the coffee roaster down the street.

It's been an interesting day, BA. I have some brats and sauerkraut in the Crock-Pot I've been snacking on all day. I went to see Logan, which was ok, but not great. Then I did the first lawn mowing of the year, which requires a very short cut and a ton of raking. I basically had to do two passes at different heights and the mower still kept stalling. Then I plugged in the trimmer to take care of some bushes and blew the bloody GFI AGAIN!!!!:angry::angry:
That means another trip to Home Depot to replace the cheap one the electrician put on last time it broke. I'm not paying someone to do my electric work anymore. What's the worst that could happen???:astonished:

Now on to this wonderful Transient stout from @Prager62. The smell on this is amazing.

Poured from an undated bottle provided by prager62.

The beer pours thick like molasses and very dark. It has almost no head, but there is a nice, tan ring that leaves some decent lacing.

The smell is amazing. It's dark, roasted malts and dark chocolate competing for the front. Underneath is a little booze.

The taste is nice dark chocolate and roasted malts. It's slightly bitter with a little char and tobacco flavor. There is no hint of the booze I got on the nose.

The mouthfeel is slightly thinner than expected from the pour and fairly highly carbonated.

Overall the smell and flavor are excellent in this beer. I'm guessing with a year on it the bitterness would fade and it would be even better.

Glad you liked it. I haven't actually tried that one yet, but I search the brewery out for my boxes because they make really interesting stuff while still flying under the radar. They're more-or-less pronounced Dry Log. I asked for the Geestelikje by name, but butchered the pronunciation on it so bad, the guy at the bottle shop said they didn't have it. He recommended the Grand Blu instead, and I eventually found the Geestelikje while poking around. Cheers!

Smells floral, tropical, citrus, light dank, light malts.

Tastes sweet doughy malt, citrus peel, tropical, mango, light pine. Finish is dry and lingering citrus. Medium body and fizzy medium carbonation

Time for a @tasterschoice62 beer compliments on NBS BIF, Larry for prez, 450 oz of killer beers. I selected SOS, Lawson's IPA at 8%, poured a nice slightly opaque, golden hue, with a nice head provided by almost perfect carbonation. There was a very nice hop profile, with some pine, grapefruit, some onion for sure. Very nice sticky lacing coating the glass. Overall solid and glad to have the chance at this one, thanks Larry

I cannot speak for other regions/States in America but anything I can find from Founders will be over 5€, or about $6, even the ''basic'' stuff like their session IPA, which is good already. Centennial was better. The pricest 12oz Founders I got myself was Kentucky Breakfast Stout at $10, worth it for sure, just not everyday.

While I enjoy Leaning Chimney, I can't quite give it the love @Premo88 tossed its way. That said, I completely agree: I'm a big Flying Jenny fan. Makes me happy whenever I see that on tap.

    @cjgiant

I have to agree. I've never drain-poured a Pliny, but I find 3 weeks to be around the tipping point. I love Pliny (still, to date, the only 5.0-rated beer I've reviewed), but it's not a beer that I feel ages gracefully - especially as compared to its most obvious contemporary, Heady, which I think ages fantastically (and by "ages," I mean you can easily enjoy it at 2-3 months old).

Am drinking this one right now

What a delicious beer. It pours a cloudy orange gold with a generous dollop of white above that relaxes and leaves serious lace behind.

Wow quite a bit going on in a light/med. strength aroma. crisp grainy sweet, orange, grapefruit pith, herbal bitter, with light hint of melon, even lighter hint of mint.

Take the aroma, add some righteous earthiness to the bitter and subtract the mint and you have it. Well balanced with an excellent end of sip that is just dry enough.

Not trying to be lazy to describe all attributes of mouthfeel as solidly middle of the road for style. Very clean finish, and a refreshing beer for sure.

Never heard of this brewery, but it is on the radar now. Excellent IPA that I recommend highly.

Hope you also have a Great American Beer in your glass. Cheers!

Going to tackle one more. This one is light and fruity, which should fit in well.

    4Hand's Kriek.

Pours a robust, ruby cherry color with a little fog to it. A pink head fizzes up quickly and disappears just as quickly. No lacing left behind. Aroma is tart cherry. Flavor profile is tart and sweet cherries, and provides a resoundingly sour, and tart quality. Mouth feel is fizzy with a medium thickness. Overall, this Kriek is tart and sour with plenty of cherry notes.

    Personal notes:
Woah! First review on BA. How's that for New Beer Sunday?

One more from the awesome BIF #5. Thanks @cavedave!

Rushing Duck - Imperial Beanhead Coffee Porter.

Poured from 16 oz can. Thanks to @cavedave for giving me a chance to try this one.

A: Clear medium brown with smallish one finger head. Short retention and zero lacing.

S: Dark roasted malts, fresh brewed coffee, chocolate, and lactose.

T: Rich coffee and chocolate dominates the flavors with a touch of "cream".

M: Medium body with light carbonation. Smooth and creamy with a touch of warming alcohol heat.

O: Solid coffee porter with a nice flavor combination.

Pours a cloudy gold/straw color with a minimal white head, which recedes quickly into a ring. Excellent lacing in the glass.
Nose is fruity, some mango and pineapple, little orange and citrus too.
Taste follows closely, minimal bitterness on this bad boy.
Feel is excellent. Medium body and nice carbonation, finishes just beautifully!

Excellent brew, so stoked I got to try it!

Here's the destruction from Corey, I'll be back with at least one more tonight!
