Heading out there next week - saw there were a few breweries. What are the "shouldn't miss" spots?

    Beer bar: Max's
Best beer store: The Wine Source (also does crowlers and on-site pints)
    Best breweries: Union, Diamondback
Best brewpubs: Brewer's Art, Of Love and Regret

You don't really ever need to venture outside Max's.

For what it's worth, I agree with the above poster. For the best on-site beer experience in Baltimore, I would just camp out at Max's.

Visited for the first time end of January on a work trip and only had a limited time. Went to Of Love and Regret, Maxs and Wet City.

Really enjoyed OLAR, you're essentially limited to Stillwater beers but they had some killer stuff that likely doesn't make it many other places. Great seafood too. My favorite of the 3.

Went to Max's after, crazy draft list with lots of local stuff. Didn't really enjoy the atmosphere of the place but I was alone, with my friends would be a little different. Picked up a 4 pack of RAR Stunt **** though, which was a nice bonus.

Had dinner and some beers at Wet City the next night. Really good food and a really friendly bartender. Smaller taplist but still impressive. Very modern/minimalist vibe

Of love and regret is great, except for that time I sat at the bar by myself spent $100 and at the end of the night asked for my first taste of something and was told ,

    "We don't do tastes"

Well, I'll tell you what Brian strumkey of Stillwater, I don't tip more than 15$, ymmv.

Baltimore is great, have fun at Max's!

Fells Point (Max's) is a pretty safe area. Usually within a block or 2 off the water around inner harbor is safe as well. Venture more than 2 blocks off the water (particularly at night), and your adding alot of safety risks.

Went to Max's twice, Diamondback, Union, Waverly, and Pratt St for beer stops. Tried a few Heavy Seas ales as well.

Loved it all, especially Max's, Union, and D'back. Interesting city the Charm City is.

    Again, appreciated the input.

Max's is definitely the best beer bar, maybe on the East Coast. I dunno about the food, though. For the nicest drinking/dining experience, I would hit Brewer's Art. Very classy place.

No need to fix your post; just so happens that 15$ and 15% were the exact same in this circumstance. Trust me, I'm a 5th grade Math teacher

This was the first thread that popped up, I've been to Baltimore but just curious of any newer hidden gems to try for next weekend. I'll be a going to the Red Sox-Orioles series and hopefully avoiding most Massholes. My last of around 8-10 past trips was in 2013/2014 I believe but actually haven't been to a ballgame since a conference down there is 2006.

For background, since my last bachelor's trip in 2003 my wife and I usually stay in the Towson to White Marsh area. I'm just going to Hotwire a hotel room once again, unless there is a ridiculously cheap rate in Inner Harbor (doubtful) we'll stay out that way again. So for reference I will have a car available and can drive around although obviously I'd like to ditch it and get around by foot/taxi once I'm in the city proper.

Max's is always a must stop, may try Of Love and Regret this time around. I haven't walked around pre-gaming since the aforementioned trip 14 years ago when I was staying at the nearest hotel to the park which was then Holiday Inn. What are some good options near the park where I could stumble into some craft beer? Any particular stands in Oriole Park where there are good beer options?

Outside of that, our past few times we first ate at Woodberry Kitchen, and the last time we tried Birrotecca. There was another time we had RA Sushi Bar 5-6 blocks from Max's which I recall being a nice experience. Other than that our must-stops are Miss Shirley's for breakfast and purchasing a tub of cannoli cream from Vaccaro's. Any other suggestions for a finer dinner (but not too fine for my broke ass) on my wife's bday weekend are appreciated. Thanks!

I haven't been but I like what Oliver is doing and have heard great things about Diamondback. Of Love and Regret is Stillwater Artisanal's bar and is worth a taste or 5 as well. Hope your trip treats you right! Eat some crab cakes if you're not allergic or religiously uninclined!

Thanks I like crab cakes but my wife hates all seafood except for fish and chips, so I'll have to find a well rounded restaurant to enjoy. I forget what she had at the sushi place before.

Your Virginia location makes me remember my conference last Fall near Dulles and my first try of Aslin, very good stuff!

I saw afterward that Union mentioned above is down the street from Woodberry Kitchen and I kind of liked the feel of that area.

Ahhh, I forgot the name of the place I randomly saw on Diners, Drive Ins, Dives (was that the right food show?). I remember seeing it some night and thinking we need to check it out next time.
