Mikerphone Check 1,2 what is this?
What's the ABV on this roughneck business?
I don't take sippas, on strong beers like dipas.

I didn't say they should distribute (well, I think they should, but mostly because that would help me get their beer). I just said brewery-only releases create hype simply by only being available at one location, at one point in time. If you don't agree, that's fine, but I'm not sure what's "Chicago" about it. It's been proven that people (dumbasses) will line up for shit even without knowing what it is, thanks to herd mentality, so that's all I'm saying.

It feels like you're still taking that statement as either an insult to TH or a statement that their stuff is overhyped, and that's not what I'm saying. I'm just saying that when it comes to brewery-only releases, quality isn't the only factor.
Both things can exist in the same world; just because I said brewery-only releases generate hype doesn't mean I don't think things can sell like crazy in distro. I've been chasing BA stuff since I started drinking it, and I was on Mikerphone's SS from batch 1 (although I stopped chasing it when other breweries started making more NE stuff available). I'm sure TH stuff would sell like hotcakes if they put it on shelves (especially since I would imagine they don't crank out enough to stock the entire Boston area very well)

Either way, whatever. I'm not really trying to be argumentative, just want to make sure I'm getting my thoughts across. As long as I am, even if you think the premise is idiotic, it's all good.
Yeah, if for no other reason than to temper people's expectations, I think this would be pretty helpful in some cases.

So with this release, along with The Get Fresh Flow and Rockin' The Suburbs from Mikerphone, it looks like I'm going to have a busy evening after work on Thursday...

Interesting read. It makes sense why most breweries are calling their offerings of the style "New England Style" or "New England-Inspired", perhaps to legally tiptoe around the specifics in the Representation of Vermont Origin Rule.

I would imagine "hazy IPA" works better for people who aren't as familiar with the history of them.

Also, calling something a Vermont IPA/farmhouse/etc. is ridiculous. "Vermont-style" at best, if you HAVE to reference another state.

Even that doesn't appear to be legal, unless this section is just about food products:

“Unqualified representation of Vermont origin” means a representation containing the word “Vermont” or a substantially similar term that appears in connection with a food product or ingredient without stating how the product or ingredient is connected to Vermont (such as “Vermont cheddar cheese”

    Edit:

Although it seems legal after reading this section, if they disclose that it's actually made in CA.

"If the product was not made in Vermont, then information sufficient to indicate the geographic area where the product was made must be disclosed on the front panel (such as “Made in Ohio,” “Product of New England,” or “Made in USA”)"

I honestly was talking strictly from a decency perspective, regardless of legality. Obviously don't do it if it's illegal, but even if it's legal, it's cheesy to call it a "Vermont ____".

I'm maybe a 10-minute drive to west loop, and I just told my girlfriend a few days ago that I wish we were even closer to the city for breweries/brewpubs/events/better liquor stores/etc.

Yeah, I never thought of the whole "State protecting its businesses" thing.

To me it's the bottle shops that are key. Bottles & Cans, Capones, Bitter Pops, Beer Temple, plus the city Binny's tend to get more hard-to-find stuff. That said, I'm glad Miker, Noon Whistle and (later this year) More will be all within 10-20 minutes of me.

Agreed. You know all the world-class breweries in the city, though. Nuff said. We are fortunate here in the Windy City, obviously.

I figured as much...just had to take the opportunity for a zinger. Even though it's known amongst my friends that I am someone who never wants to live in the suburbs here, I still recognize there are some good things (and people, more importantly) out there. I hope to check out Mikerphone, Noon Whistle and others sometime down the road (it's just tough when I can go to Half Acre, Revolution, etc. much easier).

Had Cumulus and Husky Pants this weekend. Cumulus was awesome, very smooth and no bitterness. At $11 a 4 pack, I'm a happy customer. Husky was meh.
