If all one has is one of those ubiquitous blue or red plastic cups, that's OK. I'm no stickler, but I have over 100 tumblers, goblets, steins, mugs, pint glasses of every type, great wheat beer glasses, and many more. I love the damned things and my wife just puts up with them. I often wonder where they may be in a 100 years! They are real pieces of my long history with beer.

I am a BIG fan of the beer glasses from Spiegelau.

They sell a box of differing glass types:

If you only want to buy one Spiegelau glass, buy the tulip:

But do you have any can shaped glasses?

Thanks to a tip from a wizened beer drinker this glass i now my preferred glass for Stouts, Porters and medium-hoppy beers (e.g., Bitter Ales).

Below is a photograph of one of my can shaped glasses with a homebrewed Bitter Ale.

    Cheers!

My multi purpose glass is a simple snulip. This could be the glass I could drink all beers with.

For Belgium abbey beers I mostly use a wider glass. Don't need to be branded when the shape is right. Some beers like Duvel or Orval call for their own (branded) glasses.

For most German Hefeweissbier (at home) proper glassware can be handy I think. The glass needs to hold the complete bottle (at least) because of the yeast pour (swirling with a bit beer that's still in the bottle).

@JamFuel I know you are a frequenter of the WBAYDN threads so perhaps I may assume you are picking up the term "proper glassware" from that thread? In that case, (to me at least) its the drinking of a beer with its proper branded glassware. i.e. an Orval from an Orval chalice, Chimay from a Chimay chalice, Celebrator doppelbock from a celebrator glass, etc. etc.

More broadly the term proper glassware can just refer to the use of a particular glass for a particular beer style. So a thistle for a scotch ale, tulip for a belgian, monic pint glass for a english ale. BA has a listing of the "proper" glassware for each style here.

For me, I love my willi becher pint glass along with my duvel tulip. I could get by with just those two glasses and be happy.

Jack, I haven't gotten one of those yet. I've had my eye on a nice Anderson Valley version. Beer glasses once came my way more "freely" than these days... I love these little Hitachino glasses. They seem to be perfect for orange juice, kombucha, and most beers known to Man!

Sixpoint made a really cool can shapped glass to accompany their beer Jammer Gose. Really neat wave graphics on that glass.

    Cheers to Sixpoint!!

    Jack,

As part of our new "wave" of innovation coming in May 2017, we will be presenting "proper glassware" for all of the beers, along with your idea of presenting both the BEST BY and BORN ON DATE for all of our canned beers, along with some other cool features. Will share in the next month or so...

    cheers!

I have my favorite glass and I use that one for everything, then the second favorite and so on . . . Two tasting glasses are my favorites. One I call a farmers glass from genesee and one that is thin and tall a pils glass only tasting size from victory.

Proper glassware means using the right style of glass for the style of beer. If I have a branded glass, I'll try to use it with that brand, but the glass should still be acceptable for the style.

Sometimes I'll use a branded glass for a different brand to achieve a specific look, or an unusual glass for a style if I'm trying to be clever or something...

I've found that my nonic pint and over-sized snifter cover the vast majority of what I drink, but tulips, flutes, stanges, goblets and the like are good alternates.

Yes I have. Overall, I think Sixpoint has done a pretty good job with conveying that we make continuous improvement to the beers, which is incremental change with every batch.

Every now and then (last one occurring in May 2014) we make a leap forward, where we drastically overhaul many of the recipes, processes, procedures, and packaging of the beers.

Next big one is set to drop in May 2017. Can't wait!

Well, I know about your change process because I regularly read BA threads and communicate directly with you.

How does the 'casual' end customer know this? All they do is go into a beer store and buy beer. There is no communication on the packaging (that I am aware of) that educates that this 6-pack box of Sixpoint Brand x is brewed differently from the previous batch he/she purchased.

Shouldn't this change be openly and transparently communicated to the end customer via labeling?

    Cheers!

    Jack,

This is communicated via the overall company ethos, with has continually emphasized the mantra of "continuous improvement" which is subtle changes and tweaks in the formula and processes over time.

As you can imagine, it simply is not feasible to change the packaging every single time you do a packaging run, but if you let your customers know that you're always evolving, you have that area covered.

    cheers

    Shane,

I understand your business situation here but I find it lacking as a complete communication with the end customer perspective.

For example, I personally have never went to the Sixpoint website (or wherever) to read about your overall company ethos. My personal knowledge is solely from BA and direct communication with you.

    Cheers!

    Jack
